Am I The Only One That Loves The New Jp Sound?

I think the new jetpack sound is perfect.

Everybody jokes around about it, and I can see why, but what I want to know is if you would change it back if you could.

I for one don't want it changed back to the old, boring one.

    1st: lol @ your name and icon <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> that's just hilarious.

    2nd: I don't really mind the new JP sound. It's different granted, but I really don't have a preference. If you were to make me choose, I'd say it's fine, and that I like it just alright.

    Umm yeah, I don't like flying around with something that sounds like a blender is eating a vacuum cleaner.

    The new jet pack sound is great, sounds like some small turbine. I can't stand the pistol or chuckle sounds, I've been using the ones from 1.0x all along.

    I think it sounds a lot better than the old, weird sound.

    only thing I don't like is how it loops. like they just forced a sample-restart from the middle to the end, which is the loop.

    it doesn't sound seamless.

    but the new "winding up" sound is really nice. the old sound was just some weird sputter, and didn't really sound like a machine..

    I actually like the new JP sound, it's one of the only few good things about NS right now.

    Since I was never a fan of the old jp sound, I can say that I definately like the new one better. Now I just want a new leap sound, and I'm happy.

    I like it, too. Sure, I call it a Dust-Buster just as much as anyone else, but I think it works really well.

    Well, it has one good side and it has one arse side:

    <b>Good:</b> The gradient-sound that plays when you take off or land is really snatchy -truly adds a feeling to it.

    <b>Arse:</b> Beware aliens: we have brand new Hover 2000 -vacuums and we will suck you in. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The sound kinda grows on you... but it does sound more like a freaking hoover...

    Why oh why did they remove our chucklespam tho. I miss that from the 1.x days.
  • UzguzUzguz Join Date: 2003-06-05 Member: 17016Members, Constellation
    I've seen a Gorge get sucked in by it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And yes, Chucklespam is indeed the master of the universe. All they needed to add was a way of killing Marines with it, and it would have been the dominating centerpiece of the Kharaa.

    I suppose if you like the idea of a squad of housemaids zooming into a hive with their dustbusters of dewm to clean up the kharaa mess then yeah, the sounds are good.

    i'm OK with the new sound, it'll take some getting used too.

    Download for 1.0x pistol and chuckle sounds?

    The JP sound needs to be deeper, it litterally sounds like a flying vaccum.... euugh
  • obuhobuh Not Quite Smart at NS Join Date: 2003-03-31 Member: 15072Members, Constellation
    Personally I think the jetpack sound is far too high pitched, and too loud. I wouldn't mind it if it didn't make my ears bleed each time I hear it.
  • ZekZek Join Date: 2002-11-10 Member: 7962Members, NS1 Playtester, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
    The JP sound would be fine if they just made it deeper. It's <i>way</i> too high-pitched right now.

    Maybe if the pitch was lowered some (like the original intention was, if I recall correctly) to make it sound more like a turbine . . . but it's not all that bad.

    I gotta go with the fact that I like it.
    Even though you get a lot of "COMM! GIMME A LEAFBLOWER ASAP!" comments it fits the workings of the JP.
    And the new JetPack is more a JumpPack anyway and it sounds like its giving short "boosts".
    I like it!
