<div class="IPBDescription">status version 1.01</div> I somehow feel a little annoying setting up this vote. Its like throwing even more wood into the burning fire that is around on these forums discussing the balancing question. I am reading alot of ppl saying that its not balanced so aliens are disadvantaged. On the other hand i read ppl complaining about two weak marines. Then again ppl say its balanced, leave it the way it is.
Its kinda hard to filter out the general tenor of this. And its also hard for the developers to get an overview of how many ppl state what opinion about the balance issue. So i think such a vote is useful and also necessary.
Dont take this thread as a platform to continue the discussion we have in every 3rd thread, but just vote and mybe write some lines to explain your vote. But dont turn this into a huge discussion. Its for voting and nothing else. Keep this overviewable and neutral. No fights or such things.
I see we dont have the possibility to make an actual functional vote system in our threads. So i think everyone just write his vote in the reply without too many words to underline it.

my reason?
i just played 2 games of NS on the same server.
i was on aliens and after about 1hr30mins we had won so whilst everyone was in the readyroom we all decided that we'd do the same teams but aliens go marines and vice-versa.
after another longish game the marines (the team i was on) won again, same map, same people.
we just worked better together as a team.
my only niggle with the mod is the siege turrets but they are not invincible and if they build them outside ur hive then its your fault for not stopping them.
Before patch marines owned aliens, after patch aliens own marines, i play both teams but i rarely see a marine team winning since the patch........
NS has been out for nine days now - give it a little more time and you too will realize it is balanced.
Aliens need teamwork while marines need a good commander. Without they are screwed.

I've had games as marines where we got HMG/HA in the first 5 minutes and proceeded to trash the aliens 2 hives. It really all depends on how well the teams work together.
In the end, I'm giving a tentative A) and C).
Both aliens and marines have strengths that can't really be countered - The skulk rush is capable of decimating marines in the first minute, and the siege cannon is nigh-on omnipotent in end game.
The aliens have to deal with 'slippery slope', HMG/HA, hive camping, motion tracking, super-turrets, and siege cannons.
The marines have to deal with commanders who won't restock them, skulk rushing, cloakers, limited ammo, lack of personal choice, near-continuous harassment (If the aliens are doing anything right), limited mobility (Excluding jetpack), MASSIVE turret clusters backed up by 10 def chambers, webs, and a few other things.
While the marines list is longer, each thing on the aliens is a bigger problem <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
-tho increase damage of basic LMG by 1 point
A game I played last night convinced me of this. First, I saw two games won by the team that had four members of the same clan on it. One time they were on aliens, one time they were on marines, both times on the same map. Aliens won first, then marines. This convinces me that teamwork wins.
The next game, though, (after mapchange), I played my first successful game as commander. I have to give my team some credit -- they requested structures, moved in teams, and did what I told them to. We took control of two hives early, and it was pretty much over from there. The aliens did a good job of taking out most of our advance resource bases, but by that point it was too late -- we built a base just outside their last hive, then attacked in a group of six or so. They didn't have a chance.
And midway through there was a skulk or two munching on my command chair, too. They almost got me, but one of my toopers jumped back through the portal and took 'em out for me. Like I said, I had a good team.
i vote for b. good teamwork is the key in this game. a team full of rambos WILL, undoubtedly, lose to a teamwork-oriented group.
In a recent game, we aliens totally killed a marine team, then in the waiting room everybody changed teams for the next game so it was exactly opposite. We then killed them as marines.
Yeah this game is pretty balanced.
Still needs to tone down the reliance on turrets and OC/DC tho. . .
actually, very balanced. i can win with either team as long as my team works together and the commander is good.
