Ahh, but what you have to remember about zombies is that, being dead, their joints are a bit stiff, and some of them have been dead so long that the joints are very nearly snapped. A sharp kick the the hip would snap a leg off and send it reeling backwards, knocking arms and legs off the other zombies, who would reel backwards, and so on. Then, of course, they'd start to crawl back up, but you just stomp their heads.

Or, you could, you know, just keep pushing them back with a big stick. Or just walk briskly.

Assuming we don't lose power I would be safe. I live in the 1st floor of a flat (still one flight of stairs up though) and it's got one of those big, heavy, thick, metal , no bs security doors. It's got some glass in it but it's so small a zombie cat wouldn't even get in. Said door has a magnetic lock so that's why power is important. If they somehow manage to get in I can just soak the corridor and they would slide about like crazy. Failing that I've got my golf clubs. Failing that....I'd jump out the window and run <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Psh. Protection?

In my case, the best defense is a good offense.
I would simply don my cape and eyepatch, and weilding my mighty Bo, use my l33t shaolin monk skillz to make my way to a more secure area.

My house sucks. One floor, easily breakable window in my room, and alot of small space. And a very long and narrow hallway. It work to my advantage if I had a firearm handy, but I don't. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My house isn't really zombie-proof, so I'll probably drive aaaaallllll the way up to somewhere deserted in the Scottish Highlands and pitch a tent.

Zombies probably can't use a zip that well.

I'd just go to the top floor of a skyscraper and roll oil cans down the stairs repeatedly. Assuming I have unlimited cans.

In the room I stay in most of the day (the computer room), we also keep a a .22, three shotguns, a 9mm pistol and a .243 rifle.

Theres a window and a door. The window is like 4x5 feet. GG Guns, I win.

My Dad used to keep a deagle with him when he was still home. On the contrary thought, i live on the ninth floor of my apartment with elevators so im protected. but, if they manage to find a way up, I have 12 golf clubs, lots of noodles 5 assorted sushi knives 5 other knives and 2 pocketknives. i have full headgear protection i have lots of crap to throw at them zombies. also, with those sushi knives and some ducktape attached to to golfclubs, i could make some mean spears *wink* also 7 scissors a fishing spear and lots of others. So who wins the defense offense contest?

Simonov SKS, K43, K98, Spanish Mauser 98, Mossberg 500, Mossberg goosegun (sawed down a bit), double barrel shotgun, colt python, colt anaconda, colt 1911, beretta 92f, M1 carbine, appropriate bayonets for the K98, Spanish Mauser 98, and SKS, a couple of combat knives, one chainsaw, and a partridge in a pear tree...i think thats it.

if holed up in the second story of my house...nothing <i>should</i> be able to get in. Food shouldnt be much of a problem, either.

I read the book. Fairly interesting, but way too short. I still had many questions after finishing it.
Wonder if the movies mentioned in the end actually exist. spooky

Ground floor flat with a massive single pane window looking straight into my bedroom, yeah I'd be screwed for hiding out.

However I could take my swords and go on a head removing spree, much more fun.

anyway, the gate is pretty secure and if one even manages to climb up the stairs, i'll just use a stick and poke em through the gate

Well, I live in an apartment first of all.

Secondly, I live on the 5th floor, so I don't have to worry about windows.

Next we have a realy narrow stairway that can be pretty much blocked by a computer desk....

Well, guess I'm safe. The only ones I have to worry about are the acrobat zombies.

"<i>Acrobat zombies? What are acrobat zombies?</i>"
    "<i>He's lying.</i>"

Nope, not lying. Acrobat zombies are the ones crazy enough to try and break through your windows by jumping off the roof and using their l337 acrobatic skills!

Sorry, alter-ego couldn't help it XD

Eh.. Well my house would be considered "free meal!" for any eventual zombie horde. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And it just figures that my air-soft guns wont help much, unless god grant me some superior ?ber-skills so I can shoot their eyes out and kick their brains out with my enormous sniper-scope! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But I guess I would dress up in my woodland camo outfit and run around trying to survive, guess it offers some protections against bites and scratches!

however I have asthma! So I'd just take 40 dozes of my asthma medicine and run like hell (as its "speeding-up-drugs".).

If that doesnt work, I'll paint myself grayish and walk around screaming "uuh. aargh-lurgh.." hoping that the zombies dont eat eachother <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I think i'm plenty safe.

I have some gardening in front of my living room windows, along with a bench kind of thing on the window with heavy plants and pots blocking it. I also have shutters which would hold for a very short time, but it buys extra time.
Other window in my first floor just leads to the garage and the path to the garage is my patio that you can only get into if the garage is open or if you go through my kitchen sliding glass and screen door.

The glass door has bars going across it on the inside, so it's actually 2 layers of glass. Pretty f'ing strong.

The 2nd story is all narrow corridors, so I have the advantage of taking 'em out with ease, if they where to get through in the first place. and my bedroom window leads out to the 1st story house next to me (town houses so the last house is a one story). Climb out on that, then onto my roof where i'm secure. Or jump into the neighbors patio and into mine, or out the master bed room into our patio and garage, or the guest bedroom that leads to the balcony and the front of the house.
    So ya, i'm pretty safe ^.^ <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='turret.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='turret.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    20+ Guns Rifles/Shotguns/Pistols
    1 Bow and Arrow
    50+ Knifes/Daggers/Machets (Spelling?)
    SlingShot with marbles (200 MPH)

And my room with has a stairway which goes up and is very narrow so I can throw things down to block the door. I would think anything zombie like would have a hard time getting in. Just a matter of time before some crazy scientists invent something if not already made gets loose :/
  • SvenpaSvenpa Wait, what? Join Date: 2004-01-03 Member: 25012Members, Constellation
I have double glassed windows up and downstairs they would be smashed easily but its too high for any zombies to climp up. But if they got to the other side of the house we have an outplace and from there they could get into my bathroom tru the window. I would get easily invaded... But it would also be easy to hold them back up the stairs because they are narrow and high angled. Weapons hmm, well i got lots of swords, bayonetts and antique rifles (some work) bows, deadly slingshots, blow pipe (prolly wrong word), crowbars, axes, sledge hammer.
If they take the other stairs to my comp and destroy it i would go berzerk on them. After all they are just soft, rutten humans.

I live on the first floor and you can only access my flat by a set of fairly narrow stairs with a chunky door on both sides (of which only I have the keys).

Plus all my neighbours are really old and frail, practically zombies already, so when they join the ranks of the undead they'd be pretty useless zombies, probably already dragging themselves along the floor instead of lurching around all rabid and frothy.

I'd love a zombie plague to strike the world, after all only our demographic has enough experience to survive such a situation, it would cull the herd of humanity and remove all the non-geeks.

The geeks (and zombies) would inherit the earth!
