    Cowled Alien from Alien
    Cowl-less Alien from Aliens
    Runner Alien from Alien 3
    GE Alien from Alien Resurrection
    NEWBORN Alie from Alien Resurrection

Now, if we assume the cowled alien has a cowl because its host was exposed to the nasty atmosphere of LV 426 (dust storms bad, use cowl to protect head), and that the cowlless is due to better atmospheric conditions (no cowl needed to protect sensitive headbits)........... and that the Runner alien is borne from a dog, then that covers all the normal aliens.

In Resurrection the Aliens making up most of the screen time are the product of a human host with eggs from a part-Ripley Queen. They have big thick stupid corded necks. Their tails have a large flattened paddle area. Double backed legs. Even more well defined lips than the Dog-Runner. Odd stuff.

The Alien we see only a little of is the Newborn, being what happens when the part-Ripley Queen gives birth by more human means.

Now, why do the AvP aliens look like the Resurrection Aliens? They shouldn't! They're not genetically engineered part human hybrids, for one. They're the normal product of a human host - they should be more like Alien or Aliens style scuttlers. Its a shame because the Resurrection aliens look dire compared to the originals.

If you think the Aliens all look the same throughout the 5 films (I count AvP as an Alien film) then you really need to look again. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
We can't be sure these aliens are borne of humans. They might be something else that's not explained (woot, plot hole!), but whatever. I'd have to think the Aliens from Alien: Resurrection should be more like regular aliens - since Ripley is human after all (...it also makes no sense that they'd get alien DNA in with her DNA in order to clone both - seeing as the xenomorphs don't impart DNA to the host...but whatever - everything about A:R needed work).

I like the original Alien the most, it wasn't quite as...messed up and weird as the Aliens aliens (they were good too, though). Even the Alien 3 alien looked decent (especially with the lead all over it). Now they're all obsessed with "OMG OMG Add m0r3 dr00lz!!!!!!11" Which there wasn't an overly large amount of in the first one (and the second one wasn't too drooly either...A:R screwed that one up royally - since they're basically walking balls of slime with a tiny alien shell).

Then the Newborn alien in A:R.

That thing was beyond laughablly bad. It was hilariously terrible.

Actually if you watch the first film again you'll see lots of water/slime running over the Alien's mouth when its doing anything with its inner jaws.

Althought for the later films this appears to have been replaced ALL OVER THE ALIEN with lots of what may be KY jelly. Its insane.

    one thing is tho.

us lot grew up with the alien and predator movies in a certain way so realy those movies shud be reserved for us in a way.

and for the kids they get their 13 going on 30 type films.

    see what i mean?

but still PG-13 will suck if it had an 18 rating or R-rating it would of been soooo much better.

Also do you know the scene in Alien where (i cant remember his name) has the Face hugger attached to his face and then it fell off blah blah, well the scene where they are eating a meal all together and then suddenly he starts coughing and spluttering only that actor, some of the film crew and the director (of course) knew what was going to happen the rest of the cast didnt have a clue, so wen Mr.Alien popped out of his chest their reaction was natural.
Can paul Anderson live up to that?
    no
can a PG-13 live up to that.

The sad thing is, i remember all through my youth that adult movies, such as Aliens, Predator, Robocop, Terminator, they've all been given something to appeal to kids. Bear with me here.

All of the above each had video games made, so while the movies were considered too adult (All rated BBFC 18, illegal to sell to people under 18 in the UK), they were still making money from the kids market. Later on things such as The Toxic Avenger even saw their own kids TV show.

They've been jamming adult products down the throats of kids for many many years now, and it's just taken the next step.

Well, in truth, that was the first take - but the chestburster didn't get through the guy's shirt, so they had to do it again. So, the cast didn't know the first time, but the actual take in the film they knew.

    Man, that would have been awesome to see, <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

I still say stop saying what the film's capable of until you, you know, see the film. Things without gore don't automatically = bad. Just look at NS. Where's the over-the-top gore in that.

I picked up the 9 disk set that came out a while ago, and watching the extras for the fourth movie there were litterally using <b>20 gallon</b> jugs of the stuff. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Some of the Preds in Predator 2 had ridiculous cannons-on-a-pole from their shoulders, so no biggie.

The wrist blades did a lot of wacky stuff in Predator, with retracted, extended, super extended, and split wide to trap Arnie's neck. Longer doesn't really fuss me.

Tho I wonder whats up with those addons at the side of the wristblades...

An observant person will notice in the trophy rack, alongside all the human and other skulls, there is in fact, a xenomorph skull stored sideways. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I remember hearing in either a 'making of', an interview, or whatever, that the alien skull was nothing but a joke. The team working on props or something also worked on the alien movies, so felt like putting it in. It, apparently, has no relevance whatsoever. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Heh, Actually I didn't saw that xenomorph skull at the first time. When I watched the movie second time, then I saw that. But one thing in the "Alien" (yeah, the first part) film reminded me a predator. Remember when they went to the lost spasheship, there was a moulded creature lieing on the chair with xenomorph half outside of its stomach. that ship wasn't humans, it was more like predators. That creature over there was a predator. And something killed that xenomorph when it reached out of the predators stomach.. I don't know if this was done purposly or not, but it makes sense in the AvP trilogy (Not Andersons crap). <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Neg.

That's actually (ploughs brain for Aliens background) the 'Elephant creature' who in the background absolutely <i>despise</i> the Xenomorphs (alledgedly because they think they wiped out their home planet) but also have pretty much nothing but contempt for everything else, including humans.

One turns up in one of the Alien novels as well. But I can see where you were coming from there. One neat link (though I doubt any film guru's will be bright enough to think of the link) would be the fact that in the Predator books, the idea is all the Pred's we see in the films are young males, and the females are in fact much larger & stronger (like most species apart from humans) and the male predators hunt to show their prowess to the females, basically as a form of display. (Once again, like most species, including humans this time)

What is the 'Elephant creature' was a female Predator? That would be an ingenious link, and would let some cool story develop.

    - Shockwave

EDIT : After reading rest of thread. If you want to read about an <i>adult</i> male predator, try the novels of AvP which include 'Broken Tusk'. He's the predator that when faced with a group of 10 aliens, he takes his plasma caster (the gun on a stick... *Sigh*) crushes it, and throws it on the floor because <b><i>otherwise it wouldn't be a challenege</b></i>. He then charges them all with his spear, and wins.

    Broken Tusk si nails. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

AFAIK they're the same race. Some of their history is explained in.......erm Aliens: Destroying Angels.

That said; just so everybody knows, the Predator special edition DVD is due out sometime soon. Best Buy has it marked at $17.99 currently...it has cool featurettes and a tribute to Kevin Peter Hall (the really tall guy who died of AIDS a while ago who played the Predator in both movies).

Okay, only geeks buy stuff for the extra features (aside from blooper reels and extra scenes), but still...Buy it! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Now I'd like to point out, with my newly pointed out information (thanks, Sunday paper!): The Predator special edition DVD comes with a ticket for AvP (Best Buy ad says "up to a $12 value!" with their cool $17.99 price). While coincidently it's only $15.99 at Target and comes with the same benefit (although I've never seen a theatre charge $12...). Comes out August 10th (according to the ads).

So either way you win out: You can buy an awesome DVD with a ticket for a 'crappy' movie. Or
You can buy an awesome DVD with a ticket for a 'great' movie...

Either way you get to see it for free, no matter how it turns out (Or if you definately plan to see the movie: just subtract the cost of movie tickets in your area from the price). Might only apply to the United States.

There's also some $34.99 RAM in the Best Buy ad (after rebate)...so maybe I need to dig up my old thread.

Turnout for AvP is going to be good, but don't expect anyone to remember it a year from now. Its in many ways like Terminator 3... some people knew it just <i>couldn't</i> live up to T2, but saw it anyway because damnit, its a Terminator movie.

So yeah, it isn't going to be as good as it should be. Still gotta see it though.
