I just got a Sony KDF-55E2000 for my Xbox 360. It's a 3LCD 720p 55inch. It will arrive on January 9th. Does anyone have this model? and if yes, do you like it?
480i/480p/720p/1080p - perfect support for the PS3 I just got today. Yep, they're finally reaching the point of just casually sitting on a store shelf for a couple hours.
I don't have a HDTV because of the retarded HDMI revisions. Now I'm still waiting for HDMI 1.3. I'll probably end up waiting for HDMI 1.4 after 1.3 has been released. Blah.

If you get an HDTV for gaming, make sure you check up on "HD gaming lag." A guy who lives in my hall has a 40-something inch Vizio, and there's a small but very noticeable delay between what you do on a controller and what shows on the TV.
So really anyone got a link to why HDTV's are so superior? To me it's like Bloom in a game, not really needed just a nice bonus to look at when you're bored.

Play any game at 640x480 the whole way through. Now play it again as close to 1920x1080 as you can (probably 1600x1200).
That's the difference, the end. Some people like higher resolutions and crisper details. And some people are content with blur.
But the trick is you have to sit eight feet away for the true experience, and if you own a PS3 it's actually going to get downscaled to 480i. So there's that.

Well, those are a good approximation of the resolutions that an HDTV uses.

Could you explain a bit more? As what difference is there between the revisions and why it stops you from getting HDTV?

To jump on this topic...
Did anyone perform any serious research into their TV selection before purchase? I've been hunting around for an LCD HDTV, most likely 40" or 42", and I'm finding myself deluged under a torrent of information, most of which can safely be described as 'Manufacturer Spiel'.
If anyone has some good reccomendations, I'd be keen on hear them, especially now the prices in the UK are beginning to approach somewhere around 'sane'.
Hmm, not so sure about a 40" HDTV, but I got a really nice 32" Widescreen <a href="http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/924634/Samsung_32_LE32R74BDX_Freeview_HD_Ready_Widescreen_LCD_TV/Product.html" target="_blank"> Samsung HDTV from Play.com</a>. Had some excellent reviews and the price was good. (For a 1080i HDTV).
I did alot of research into my 42" Plasma, and I love my purchase. the first and foremost location I use is avsforum.com. you may need to register to search, but search on the model number of the TV you're looking at and you'll get some good hits.
I have an Akai 42" Plasma I got for under 1000 US, and it looks amazing to me. I went with Plasma over LCD for better color and less ghosting, and also because side by side, the Plasma just looked much nicer.

I forget the model number. I've been nothing but happy with it.

Well, I've got...
An old 28" TV which runs it at the same visuals that my brother's 54" plasma runs it at, even when HDTV is setup on the console and TV.
My analysis?
HDTV = crap
it will be better when its more easly avalible and when there is more broadcasted in it.

I'm content with Youtube quality.
