<i>Yellow Ring</i> for <b>Parasite/Alien Vision</b> <i>Red Ring</i> for <b>Scent of Fear</b> <i>Green Blob</i> for <b>Friendly Units</b> <i>Red Blob</i> for <b>Friendly Units Under Attack</b>
I took one minor liberty with the rings, leaving a counter-tint along the inside edge. Specifically, the 'bloody enemy' ring for <b>Scent of Fear</b> has a purplish highlight along the inside edge, which I made by accident at first but which I thought suited the 'bloody and bruised enemy' idea quite well. The counterpoint to this on the yellow ring gave it a white outline, which didn't seem to detract so I left the 'artifact' in the attached version.
Updated the package with a 'corrected' set of sprites. The adjustment is relatively minor, but clears up the 'cut-off fogging' around the edges of the 'friendly' markers.
No problem, and I'm glad to help as they were very close to what I had in mind to do next already. :-)
The 'perfect set' I made was not perfect from a beauty perspective, but from an attempted 'technical' perspective, to make it as useful as possible for colour-blind people to use, while still making it usable by those that could see all the colours.
To be honest, it only partially succeeded, the friendly icons not having as much difference as I thought the shifting-colours would make when viewed in grayscale in the game.
This is a purely 'function' set of hive-sight icons for someone that's not colour-blind in the slightest, and wants a lot of edge, in that there's only two symbols to track (friendly or enemy) and simple colour-coding of importance of destinations, red most, green least.
Yes, and I appologize for the 'glitch' with the sprites for the 'blobs' being a bit boxy. I had my gamma mis-adjusted when working on the sprites, so I didn't crop them correctly in the 3D render software. (Yes, those are all done with a 3D render package. :-)
I'm re-processing the 'blobs' now and will re-upload the original package when I'm done.
And I'm going to HAVE to look into making a directory on my web-site to display all these sprite-packages on too. :-)

keep them coming, as for NSS, when Monse dissapeared so did my hosting...so im waiting for him to resurface <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
harr MORE sprites <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> GJ! so what about more HUDs? is it possible to have different fonts for the numbers for aliens and marines?
Well for a completely red sprite set for marines i would be very happy(com + marine view). sooo anyone bored? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
To be perfectly frank and honest... I detest the construction the NS team is using for the commander and marine iconage, as they're being incredibly wasteful and ineffecient in regards to 3D accelerators.
Specifically, they're not all power-of-2 sizes, some of them are odd sizes like four icons across by three icons tall, so the icons don't look as good as they should in-game.
I'm waiting for the client-side release of v1.1 before I try to tackle the marine sprites, because I don't feel like fighting with Half-Life's texture-rounding while I make my graphics, which I have to with the current version of NS's client-side files for the Commander HUD icons.
lol...just had a poke through the ns sprite folder and it seems the team used the counter-strike template for the weapon models - you can see the cs kill sprites next to the ns weapon ones <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

unfortunetly, i can't do anything until monse, or whoever's going to be running rr.org now gets online <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
btw... i've made this for the marine "grunts" i'll add more details later and make and hud for commander as well later.. but for now.. im off to bed.. its 4:45 in the morning :/
I don't think that the sprites use a font, I believe you would have to redraw the numbers. As for color, its probably whatever solution they come up with in this thread <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=21108' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...ST&f=19&t=21108</a> I think that they've used Sprite Wizard to compile it using IndexAlpha as the color mode....then again....I'm not a sprite artist, I'm just a bored forum reader.
ive downloaded loads of sprite makers but none of em work(it probably me) but i would like a user friendly windows one for a n00b <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
oh it ok now i got me one dat works w00t <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
yeah that place <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> aint been there in a while, but i remember a sprite artists called "Necro" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
anyone got any tutorials? As i would like to start making sprites soon aswell as maps, also that is a good idea, Sprite Wizard for windows. . . . contact the Unreal Team (Hosted by PlanetHalflife.com) I'm sure one of their coders could whip it up in about 3hours.
I got a request: Can someone make an as large as you can crosshair while one part is the crosshair but the other part has a transparent colour w/ scanlines making the effect of looking through a visor.
