I have played under the same moniker for years in cs , dod , any mod I have tried or played whole-heartedly. I continue to come across ppl from cs and dod that I have played with on various servers and they all say the same thing , NS is now their game of choice. So much more to it than a mod like cs , more team play oriented than dod , it's simply the shiznit! I'll ride HL till it's dead and bloated....................then wait some more for HL2 to be released(With it NS2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

Yeah the funny thing is that I'm known among my freinds as being "Graphical critic" whatever that meens like I'm always looking for the graphics quality in a game. The funny thing I just realized is that I don't care at all the quality oft he HL engine or NS because like many say HL was just such an amazing experience. NS graphics are fine as they are and are made with the HL engine simply so that this mod can reach it to everyones desktop. If it had the bulky requirments needed for todays top end games then not everyone could play it. In my opinion the NS team made a smart move. And don't tell me CS looks better in any sense because it smudgy and dull in honest sense texture wise and the maps just seem to blocky or something, and many things are not sized to scale.

Plus anyone notice the skill of the mappers in NS , FAR SUPERIOR to anything ever released by the CS mappers and comparable to the dod mappers if not better. I am amazed at the qualtiy of the maps that we play , I wait for something similiar to a kustomkettle for ns to come along.

    Props to the NS mappers.

Medal of Honor paid for support from Carmack et al. The tools released to freeware modders and the tools released to a company that pays the 250,000 licensing fee for the engine are much different.

My 2 cents on this (rather silly) topic:

In terms of weapon models, CS owns just about everything. It has truly great models. However, while CS is lots of fun, it gets stale pretty quickly. Plus, it has been out forever, people do want something new.

Natural selection has great texturing, lighting, and very nice models. The marine weapon models aren't as impressive as Counterstrike's models but they are still very good. Plus nothing in NS is based on reality so it is harder to make the models so realistic looking.

If you can't understand why the mod wasn't created in a different engine, I think you need to open your mind a bit and read some of the other good posts in this thread. Anyway, if you stop playing NS just because of the graphics, it's your loss.

Dont even mention Medal of honor when talking about the mods.

Medal of Honor was not a mod.

It was a full blown game licenced using the engine. They had access to the engine code. Its so far from a mod its laughable to hear you mention it in a discussion of engines for modding.

Hmmm i thought textures in maps were all down to the mapper, oh there prob some limits in the HL engine that CS had changed but NS could quite simply have it done, its all up to the mappers then. Who cares any way, wouldnt if be great if some one gave you somin that have gfx like Doom3. you would be all excited then ti dont work, you go back to the man complain it dont work you cant play it. He replys, who said anythin about playing it. Gfx isnt everything, alot of ppls fav games are still old 2d games that are very addictive.

Yeah will be nice to get rid of those DMing CS players or maybe they would learn some teamplay and CS could get fun again in a whole new way, I very much doupt that anyway.
