    I think the kid clearly takes after his father more than that psychotic excuse for a mother. His dad at least tried to reason with him. To be honest, he had a pretty good point - they're broke, and she needed to get to work. However . . .

    Well, it's a flatpanel screen (more expensive than CRT) he's got a nice comfy-looking, possibly leather or imitation leather chair, and he has a TV in his room. The way I was brought up as a kid and the way I was told to parent, TV in kids room = needlessly spoiling your kid.

    That said, that mother is far out of line. Broke? I've got an easy solution: start ebay-ing off items like the above list that lean on the side of luxury, and tell the son "sorry, we can't afford stuff like this unless you let me use the car to go work"

    Well he works, I'd imagine that he probably pays for a lot of his stuff. Even if he didn't she could "ask nicely" about that kind of thing. It's insane how she's acting.

    My mom would do just the opposite; she would get real calm and cool...almost cold and unleash a barrage of stinging sarcasm and words that would baffle a Thesaurus.
