I would have gone with the Thermaltake Tsunami Case, looks cleaner, its got a lock (Awesome) plus its a little bit cheaper.

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133132' target='_blank'>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811133132</a>

And since you can save on that then you can afford the abit Fatal1ty board:

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127206' target='_blank'>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813127206</a>

^Much better board IMO, Plus you can always upgrade to SLi!

    Edit:

Oh ya, all in all youve got a pretty good PC there!

Wouldn't I be better off with the full size case rather than a mid size- especially since i want to upgrade to dual Vid cards in SLI?

2 vid cards, mobo, sound card, network card, HD, 2 CD/DVD, Floppy, and PSU gotta all fit in there

Also, with that new mobo- Be warned: You must set the timing for your RAM.

    How do I do that?

Nice pc there bullethead.. but quick little question I realize that since RAM is so cheap now, is there a reason you are sticking with the 3200?

I doubt it would bottleneck the computer that much, but it could... especially when 5400 1gig is less then $150... (of course you would need a new mother board.)

Well, what would you suggest then?

Well.. give me a moment.. I'll check newegg..

*Edit* Nevermind.. AMD doesn't like the faster RAM.

I'm such a computer hardware nub too. :-)

I wish I had money. Awesome setup though. The only thing that I would change on that setup is the case. If your dropping near $140 on a case, get some all-aluminum, it helps dissapate heat better. Not LianLi, cuz I think they're butt-ugly. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Oh, and It's not guarunteed I'll get this- I'll have to sell my Current PC (might be able to return it since it's **** up so badly) and then find another 800 somewhere... then I'll need help assembling it (never put one together myself before)

Are you some millionaire? Plus isnt the X2 dual core? And isn't the single core better than the dual's right now?

Also 2.1 speakers with a 7.1 speaker sound card. Mate you need 7.1 speakers FAST and NOW. 7.1 rocks so much I rather use that than a headset O.O

I really reccomend Lian Li cases if you don't mind their spartan appearance. They're extremely well made, they make building a snap, they have great airflow and are generally very quiet while being quite light.

For the Video Card, if you want a 6800GT, I highly reccomend the BFG version. Unless you really want 2 DVI, they make one for almost the same price as your current one, but it comes out of the factory overclocked WITH a lifetime warranty and 24/7 tech support, very awesome.

If you're really serious about gaming, I'd even say you might be able to find some RAM with better timings, but that's usually where people lose their money and go over budget.

I don't know a whole deal about dual cores, but some motherboards have problems with seeing both cores, so you may want to investigate that further.

    Perhaps more later.

He's got a point, 7.1 is way better, ive got 5.1 with a 7.1 sound card and im thinking about upping to 7.1 audio. I just need to save money and figure out how im going to put my two side speaker where they need to be. (Ive got the rear speakers for my 5.1 mounted on my chair)

As for that mobo i listed, im sure you can find information on it and timings somewhere, all i know is that its the best mobo for overclocking and just gaming in general. (Not including the way it looks)

I just like to share.. since I have an aboundance of wealth in the sound system department... 7.1 isn't any better then 5.1 those two extra channels.. don't make any difference.

Im on 4.1, iv been thinking of selling these older ones onto my brother for about 20 quid and using that + cash i have to buy a nice 5.1 set.

Still it looks like a nice setup.

Don't worry if you've never put a computer together before. In my opinion, it was A LOT easier than I thought it would be. It's kind of like putting together delicate Legos. But in this case, if you screw up, you lose a lot of money <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Don't worry though, Tom's Hardware has articles on building computers and if you search around the net, you can find many more.

Eh, I might go with 7.1 later one- hence the card

I'm also trying to find a good ATI card that is equal to or BETTER than this GeForce, but WITHOUT putting me over 2 grand.

The Radeon version of SLI should be out in the newxt few months, and it's supposed to be a lot more efficient than SLI.

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220032' target='_blank'>better ram, tbh</a>

you might want to look into crossfire, its ATI's version of SLI, but it seems to be a better technology. www.ati.com
  • Invader_ScootInvader_Scoot Join Date: 2003-10-13 Member: 21669Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
Yes, ATi's "SLI" is called crossfire. It doesn't use the same motherboard as SLI does though, so if you'd like to go for the crossfire instead (which I would) then you'll have to switch up some stuff.
  • BulletHeadBulletHead Join Date: 2004-07-22 Member: 30049Members
Dunno anything about it... ant ati.com won't load on this PC... (I'm at my grandparents)

Anyone able to tell me what all I'd need to change to use Crossfire technology?
  • NikonNikon Join Date: 2003-09-29 Member: 21313Members, Constellation
it would just be motherboard. they arent out yet tho, but due any time, Ati has alread licensed a few companies, just waiting for production now.

here is a wishlist I put together real quick as a cheaper, yet just as effective alternative. Dual core is not worth is as of yet, as none of your programs or current hardware would really use it.

    <a href='http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/WishList/wishlistCurrent.asp?BundleExist=N' target='_blank'>Newegg wishlist</a>

anyone feel free to crituque my recommendations.

the only thing wrong above is the motherboard would have to be replaced by a CrossFire compatable one once its released.
