I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but, there is a big advantage using the voices as they are instead of english only. Why?

Well, let's say you spawn on some flag, you are MEC and you hear nearby "You're good to go!" or "I need support!" or "I need a medic here!", what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Yes, there's an enemy in your base.

It has happened to me very often, not rareley, but often, that i hear voices like that, when minding my own business leaving my own base. And of course the opposite goes too, when USMC and you hear "jalla mahlhalla jabba buoogie" something, you know it's an enemy.

Fot that reason, i will never change to english only.

You don't really need to learn the language to learn the phrases in the other languages. I've picked up on a few of the arabic phrases ("need medic," "attack here," etc.). I did switch to English Only last night for a while for comfort, but the utility of the foreign languages is too great to ignore and I'll probably switch it back today.

I use english only. whenever I hear ANY voice communications that aren't on the radio (because they're in earshot), I turn toward it to see who said it. that way I can tell whether it's an enemy or a friend AND know what they're saying, too.

I cant seem to hit a single thing with those bombs. I guess i need to work on the timing and speed better.

Is it best to slow down alot and dive down or can you go fast? Whenever i dive low, the bombs seem to damage my plane slightly from the splash damage.
• DiscoZombieDiscoZombie Join Date: 2003-08-05 Member: 18951Members
my best advice is to practice in a game with no one in it. start your own LAN game with 1 second respawn, take the plane of your choice, and try to bomb vehicles. it's a lot easier without people shooting at you, though you don't get the squares around inhabited vehicles that you get when you play a real game. just bomb the vehicles and watch your minimap. if the gray vehicle picture disappeared, it was a good bombing run

as for actual bombing tips, I suggest staying at a somewhat high altitude, and flying KIND of toward a target once you see one, but still releasing your bombs pretty high and don't go too low... actual dive bombing - flying directly at a target from high up - I don't recommend... the planes go too damn fast and sometimes it's hard to pull out of the fall in time :o just practice and you'll get a feel for it. :>

I almost never use the bombs unless there are big groups of infantry close together. Just use the machine gun on everything, it takes 5 seconds of so of constant fire to destroy an APC and even less for other vehicle. Tanks are around 10 seconds in total, depending where you are hitting them though.
Same thing when fighting helicopters or other aircraft, since it doesn't give them the warning like it would if you are trying to lock them with missles, they don't know what's happening until it's to late.
• AbraAbra Would you kindly Join Date: 2003-08-17 Member: 19870Members
Gunning choppers with the machine gun would also warn them JUST like it does when you lock on with missiles, you fly straight at it when shooting. I don't see the difference.

As for height and speed.
When bombing, i raise my altitude alittle, then point the nose of the aircraft towards and only a little downwards The trick is the timing, iam flying high, and fast enough to dodge most groundfire - So the bombs have to be dropped a good time before you fly over the actual target. When i have dropped the load, i hit the afterburners and clear of any anti-air locks i may have gotten on my tail.

I must dissagree, assuming you don't approach with your air to air rockets loaded, no missle beep. Also if you come from a blind side, which is basically anything other then the front of the copter then they can't see you either. Then the only warning is the ticking sound it makes when the bullets impact(which is suprisingly hard to hear considering you are getting shot with a machine gun) or if they see their health dropping.

Some screenies of my fun with BF2.

Im currently in a massive online tourney called BattleField 2 Combat Last Sunday we had our first scrim against the NATO/US forces (im china) then i had to attend boot camp to pass out as a Private, but luckly enough i had proven myself well and was promoted to 2nd Lt. Get to command some troops now muahahhah.

First pick shows our Divisions Boot camp support pratice.

Another view from support class practice, we also had Grenade tactics, rifle and pistol practice! Advanced tactics i might add that most gamers do not know!

This shot shows room clearance and again grenade tactics! So fun using military tactics in game and seeing them work!!!!!
The US soldiers/Marines in there are from the PLA but we were using them as target practice!

Are there any tricks to busting tanks when you're the Anti-Armor class? It seems to me like it takes around 5 hits to pop a tank. Is it best to aim between the turret and the base, best to aim for the rear of the tank?
• SpetsnazSpetsnaz Join Date: 2003-12-26 Member: 24761Members, Constellation
Well i would buy the game when then next patch is out!

And aim for tracks and the rear of tanks. But apparently according to EA all spots on the tank are the same which is wrong. But aiming for the back and tracks is the best!

also as anti tank always go up high where after shooting and while reloading you can hide where tanks cant see you
• SvenpaSvenpa Wait, what? Join Date: 2004-01-03 Member: 25012Members, Constellation
According to the manual coming with the BF2 DVD tanks are suposed to have reflective armor, quote (from swe to eng) "Most modern tanks have reflective armor so as a Anti tank unit you should think carefully where you shoot the tanks, as the rocket might "bounce" off and hit friendly units."

I have NEVER seen nor heard this occur.

The manual also says that when you're flying a plane it should sound a louder alarm when a missile is being fired at you (note fired not locked).
So it should actualy be:
Low noise = getting tracked
loud noise = locked
louder noice = missile being fired at you

It might just be me but I havn't noticed any louder noice then when iam locked.
• SpetsnazSpetsnaz Join Date: 2003-12-26 Member: 24761Members, Constellation
The missle locked stuff yes that is true you do get a tone when the OpFor lock onto you!

tip In game when flying a fighter, if you get on someones tail but you have trouble getting a lock or hitting them, best thing to do is come in stealthy by switching to bombs. Shadow your target for a while get the feel of their moves and abilities and when they are in a bombing run or straigh path take em down with a missle or machine gun.

And tanks, i havent tried this yet but will (once the login server is back up) shoot the front of the turret (the angled part) and see if the book is true!

Hope it is!
