i know my specs are good cause i could play the demo on its highest settings with no lag.
As for drivers, i'll have a look even though i just dl'd the new catalyst drivers. And it does work in single player fine, its just in multiplayer it crashes

Still, my BF2 occasionally crashes or freezes. The game is ridden with bugs, just like most other games at their release. A lot of them will be fixed in the next few patches, and BF2 is definitely playable in its current state, but don't think that it is perfect in any way, shape or form.

So I picked up BF2 and it's quite a lot of fun. I'm using the default config until they release the patch, so unfortunatly I'm not doing too well at the moment.
My main complaint with the game though is that there is not much communication. Have any of you found a nice server to play on? Only once have I found a server where a squad was more than just an additional spawn point.
I love the "Voice Comms short circut when you switch squads" bug... I need to exit the game and reconnect COMPLETELY to restore my microphone functionality- it's a bug in, of all things, *GASP* the options menu. It sets and LOCKS my microphone transmit volume to 0 and the required sound level to max ... thus muting me internally <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

edit: I also recently unlocked the G3 and I've got to say its both incredibly accurate at long distances and does a lot of damage. Sorry Quaunaut, but you're wrong man.
I can't believe I'm not even halfway to my second unlock -_-
I wonder what the fastest non-cheating way to rack up the points is... 16, 32, or 64 player game, pure kills, or capture and support, etc...
my highest scoring games tend to be when I hold onto the tank for an entire mission... the kills just roll in, and I'm good at keeping the enemy at bay so my side wins too...
anyone know how exactly commander points are scored? when I comm I can never tell where my points are coming from, and sometimes I even get gold as comm...

I'm not a big fan of machineguns, personally. I only get a satisfying number of kills with them when I manage to sneak up on a whole squad or something - then they're all dead before they even know you're there...
Btw did you also notice, that the class awards have actually nothing to day with the class you are playing. just scan and/or UAVing first and only use arty in a place with red blips and no blue/green blips :> arty is actually pretty localized, so once you get the hang of it, you shouldn't get any TKs unless you have an idiot or 2 on your team deliberately run into it...

The loss of the grenade launcher is a bit of a bummer, but the hand grenades nearly make up for it (It was never common for me to take down light vehicles with the nade launcher anyway).
The full auto is also fairly accurate, and it shreads pretty much everything in close combat thanks to its insane power. It is a great sniping weapon, and you can out-snipe snipers if you play it smart. My only gripe is the iron sight, which is impractical when aiming at far away targets.
The BF2 clan community may say that the G3 sucks, but it most certainly does not.

Quite frankly, you are speaking out of your arse. My PC specs are definitely up to standard (I can play it fine on medium/high settings on 1024res with AA on) and i have tried a massive variety of drivers. Hell, i've even switched video cards around.
Still, my BF2 occasionally crashes or freezes. The game is ridden with bugs, just like most other games at their release. A lot of them will be fixed in the next few patches, and BF2 is definitely playable in its current state, but don't think that it is perfect in any way, shape or form.

Also- how do you get points toward the next rank? Is it based on score alone?
my favourite is the "Friendlies showing up as enemies" bug though.
Did get Lance Corporal and my medic unlock
