I'll probably end up getting the PC version... I have vice city for the PS2, but I can't advance any further in the game, basically because my only available missions are shooting-style missions... and the PS2 controller does not lend itself well to shooting missions.

    I have it too, and I'm loving it. Especially the voice acting featuring Samuel L Jackson. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The new aiming system of GTA:San andreas would be much more simplier with a mouse and keyboard.

that and i hate the PS2 aiming cursor... its so faint i can hardly see the damn thing. maybe a PC version would let you customize it.

Yeah, the cursor was rather faint, but then again I'm glad it was faint because a solid crosshair would have made sniping with the ak impossible.

its alright, missions are pretty good, but doing too many too fast got me bored so i just ran off like always and shot a bunch of people.. stole some cars... eventually had tons of cops and chopper chasing me...

set the game to low settings because for some reason it looks/feels better <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

2 of the best additions are the bikes (foot powered) and the freeways.

You can do so much crazy stuff on bikes, including pedal faster than any car. And on the the freeways you can easily start multi car pileups that people will continue to crash into.

I dunno whether I'll get it for PC or not. I have it for PS2, but MGS3 came out a week later and I haven't touched it since. heh.

I think it's pretty good; looks a lot nicer than GTA:VC (Xbox to PS2 versions, anyway). The draw distance works itself in a lot nicer (with cars, anyway). I've thoroughly enjoyed riding a bike all around the starting city (pffft, I like driving through the tiny towns). I like the traffic changes from ghetto to highway to country (althought it did that in VC too). My beef tends to be with the way the missions have progressed me to, since I'm forced to do a mission for Samuel L. Jackson...except it involves Molotovs and CJ throws like a drunk blind man.

It's like Fable was suppose to be, except with guns and car jackings...and lots of swearing.

    reposted from another forum:

Being playing on it for 6 months on PS2 and still quite a while off completing (about halfway through the 3rd city). Theres tons of missions and minigames, but i spend the majority of my time just exploring around, killing random people and joyriding.

The most anoying thing when you first start playing is having low skill levels with everything and no access to most of the shops until certain missions have been completed.

If you havent got access to the ammunation shops yet, you will find a Micro-SMG and Armour just east of you starting house (under the bridges in the concrete channel). Theres also a pistol behind the house in the north-east corner of your street. I found these collectables very useful for missions where you invariably end up having to kill people.

    Fun things to try:

Car surfing. Stand ontop of an occupied vehicle and fire a weapon, then try and stay on for as long as possible as the paniced driver tries to get away! If you dont have a weapon you can just stamp on it with your feet (using attack). Keep stamping and the car blows up <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Bike Wheelie. Hold back while accerating. This might be harder to do with keyboard keys, you might have to tap it.

Bike Stoppie. While moving quite fast, press break, then release and lean forward to ride on the front wheel.

Ride on the train roof. Park a car on the platform and use it as a boost to climb up onto the train roof for a scenic ride and a nice drive-by platform <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Theres also a flatbed train thats easier to get onto.

Oh yeah and my charactor is super buff, unlike you skinny newbies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Skinny Newbies?

I'm maxed on Muscle, and halfway through Stamina, BIZNATCH

I love the missions, great story. I'm in the Ozarks now, about 2/3rds of the way to where I was on PS2. Lets hope the first patch fixes the graphical slowdowns on Very High vis effects.

I've completely beaten the game twice on PS2, and I can safely say the PC version has horrendous controls if you aren't packing a dual-joystick gamepad.

Combining the lock on system and mouselook is kind of... em, fruity.

The reason it kept my interest for so long was because I kept finding new stuff in it. Like after 5 months of playing it off and on, I found out you could go into bars and play a virtual game of pool (billiards) against the computer for cash. Little things like that kept it interesting.

hmm.. maybe i just havent figured out this "lock on" stuff... is it the kind of lock on where your crosshair stays over the enemies face? or is the kind of lock on where you have a target and you shoot it yourself...

cuz the only thing ive been doing is bringing up the crosshair, looking at the enemy, and shooting them...

meh.. i like it.. i think i need to fix some things because pressing enter to beat the crap out of someone when you learn the new moves is kind of awkward...

another problem i have is the mouselook/keyboard driving combination... is there some way to lock the camera behind the car so that i can see what the hells going on around corners and stuff... and i dont want to use the mouse to control either, thats worse... i dont remember vice city being a problem...
