How Fast Do You Type?

KGB_GaralKGB_Garal Join Date: 2005-06-09 Member: 53476Members
Well, I've been asking around on a few different forums just trying to see how fast most people type.. I usually type about 90-100wpm. So how about yourself?

If you want to test yourself then go here : http://www.typingtest.com/

Fishing in Finland
Net=37
Gorss=44
Acc=77%

I think its a little off, because i type very fast, i just have bad accuracy because of my bad vocabulary. I type from memory, so read a sentence, then write it, as i read one sentence im typing another. On my old "Mario Teaches Typing" Floppy installed game, made in the 80's i got around 80/90.

My average from 3-4 tries is around 82... but it's not really accurate because I got a lot faster after doing the same passage a few times. Plus I can type a lot faster when i'm making the stuff up myself.

Which is a shame because I can type faster than I can think.

yeah 44! Well it was my first try, lets see for improvments. I had 100% accuracy...maybe I should focus on less accuracy more words.

Second try is at 55 wpm and 80% accuracy

66 WPM 84% acc. I could probably do it a lot better if i were to type swedish

Wow I don't even know what I'm writing.. I'm not used to using a ; so I did a mistake, but...

98%, 1 mistake, 69 wpm. This 98% accuracy does not take count of errors I make but immediately correct, so I can't use a typewriter

Second run on another text:

98% accuracy, 1 mistake, 98 wpm. I guess it's pretty consistant. I misspelled automobile? :x

Edit: right, there's no comma before and.

What's the difference between "gross speed" and "net speed"?

gross speed: 80WPM
net speed: 74WPM
accuracy: 92%

Grammatical error in the Fishing in Finland, in the second paragraph they say "50 metere" it should read "fifty metere".

However, that aside, if you complete their three paragraphs they make you start over

Gross: 151 WPM
Errors: 1
Net speed: 150
Accuracy: 99%

I could probably do better, but I am tired this afternoon.

Yes netspeed is subtracting your errors. (Which makes little sense since most people who need to type for a living do so with a spell check/grammar check.)

Net Speed : 98 wpm
Accuracy : 95%

Well, in school on our typing tests, which actually let you make it up as you go as if you were talking to someone, and even in the 1v1 competitions, I usualy get between 120-150 words per minute with an accuracy of about 90%

I got 77 on this... partially because I can't see to read it to well and had a few errors (god who DOESN"T capitalize the Scientific names?)

If somebody was talking to me and I was typing what they were saying, I could of gotten better than I did. As it is, I had to focus on reading the text and typing it at the same time, it slowed me down trememdously.

I got up around 90 wpm, but im' kinda tired.

I normally peak at around 120wpm.

It depends if you know what you're typing - I had no idea what I was typing and it doesn't even make sense looking at it like this. Plus, recopying = cut n' paste. I actually have to stop and think to write on e-paper

They list the top ones of the week and the highest is 149, you LIAR!! (yeah it probably just didn't update)

99 for me first try, I typed faster when I was younger (130's, 140's), on Mavis Beacon at school a little while back I was a consistent 120. The amazing part is I use only my two pointer fingers, except thumb for spacebar. It's a feat to behold.
