I guarantee calculus is much less fun.

My biggest problem is my professor's obsession with giving us crap dealing with the unit circle. Memorizing odd angles is not fun.

Yeah, I will definately concur with that statement. :-)

    Chemistry >>> Physics

I'd SO much rather memorize properties of elements, solubility of compounds, etc, rather than a bunch of random derivations and equations.

Chemistry, eh, it has its moments, just not all that many of em. Physics, at some point ends up explaining chemistry, if anyone has ever told you "math is poetry" it makes sense taking an advanced physics course, and no other time. (and only if you understand the material)

I can tolerate physics cause your actually doing something with the math, chemistry is the same way, but Ive only taken low enough level courses to get only the very basics, so its kinda like bio, memorize and use.

I find calc easier, just formulae, no application that takes tons and tons of practice. Chem requires you to know the formulas and know what to do with them....

Chemistry is not all theory. <b>PHYSICS</b> is all theory, except the middle school stuff when you drop an apple on someone's head to prove Newton's law of gravity <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

A-Level Chemistry is fun, how many other subjects do you get fed this line...

Ahh Benzene reactions, you were soooo much fun.

And could you clear your nose with anything in a Physics lab? No, unless it was a pointy stick. Chemistry classes have a bottle of 2M Ammonia sat in front of you. Fantastic for clearing your nose, even got told by the tutor to take a whiff, then blow my nose when I had a cold. Clears your nose, AND your sinuses something chronic!

I'm expecting a 4 on the AP test. Chemistry was easily the hardest subject for me to understand in high school, and I assure you I am an absolute math genius (800 SAT's, without even being Asian!). I find Calculus/Algebra/Geometry 30 times easier than Chemistry. Then again, I find Chem to be incredibly interesting, which is why I took the AP course. We had a few weeks where we just did demonstrations out of all these teacher's guides, some of them are absolutely INCREDIBLE.

    ---

on topic, i didnt know what to do after highschool, and my calculus teacher told me to be a math major because i was his best student, and then it doesnt matter if i cant figure out what to do with my life, i will ahve a degree that says i am smarter than 99% of everyone else ( do people really respect math geeks??)

well three point five years later and i'm still taking three math courses per semester, with no real goal in sight... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I don't call it racism if it's true.

Considering the fact that anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of my classmates for the last 4 years of high school have been Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or of some other asian background, and that I'm in the top math/science classes...yeah, the stereotype is there for a REASON.
  • ThansalThansal The New Scum Join Date: 2002-08-22 Member: 1215Members, Constellation
some of them definatly are, and that is one.

Simply the asian background puts more emphasis on studying and working hard etc etc.

    Oh, and:

    I EAT FOR CHEMISTRY!
