Bored ftw.
Well, as some of you know, I work part time at RadioShack. Which while it being a nice break from the montony of continously doing work at home, and gets me out... sometimes.

Misti(Me): Hi sir, something I can help you with?
Customer(Him): Yes, do you have video cameras?
M: Yes we do, which kind are you looking for, web camera or security camera?
C: For a laptop.
M: *Walks over to our web cam section (Only have about three types, and they are not your uber leet ones, I would assume he knows this since the prices are clearly displayed on the shelf. All are under $50.) These are our webcameras.
C: No, do you have real cameras?
M: Define real cameras for me please?
C: You know the larger ones?
M: Like security cameras?
C: Yes, that is what I am looking for.
M: *Walks over to security section and points out the security cameras* This will work, however you will need this adapter to plug into the USB Port on your Laptop to be able to capture the video, of course you will need software in addition to the adapter. *Points to adapter*
C: Do you any that just plug into a laptop?
M: A security camera that plugs into a laptop directly?
C: Yes.
M: Well, I do have the wireless network monitoring system, that uses your current wireless network to capture video and broadcast it to a secured webpage.
C: How much is that?
M: $179.99 *Shows him the package*
C: No I only want to spend about $40 dollars.
M: I'm sorry, I don't have a solution for you then sir, it costs a little more to do what you are asking then $40.
C: What a waste of time. *Walks out*

Wasen't there a website with an archive with all types of stories like these?

Yeah, people are a little odd when it comes to purchasing technology.

He probably wanted to set up a cheap voyeur system but was too stupid to realize that you did actually have solutions for his problem.

Oh, no, that that problem. Just the hardware one.

So, there isn't some magical camera that is "real" that isn't a web camera that costs only $40?

I've tried searching online, but I can not for the life of me find anything that is that low, that isn't a web camera.

The vast majority of the public knows nothing about technology.

I'm sure you would enjoy your job more if you could point out to customers when they have become the vast majority of the public, but in most places, your trying to sell products not make people feel dumb.

Seems pretty retarded though, "I would like to buy a high performance computer" Well how about this one, its only $1500, "Oh no, I was looking for something more in the $80 pricerange", *to self* f****** moron....

Otherwise, ive seen cameras for about 40 bucks, they just arent color and arent anything close to computer compatable (unless you have a tv tuner).

I know Dell isn't the greatest but why to people insist that computers should less then $400 if they want something even half decent?

Tell the customer that computers are like cars. Then tell them that the particular dell in question is the equivilant of a chevy caprice and the more expensive computer is the equivilant of a 2004 Ford mustang.

My computer in design, of course, being a Ferarri Enzo.

Rawr. Most stupid people atleast understand vehicular comparisons.

Edit: a used, old, beat-up, chewed-up-interior chevy caprice. That smells like weed.

Whereas my computer, in real life is the TVR Speed-12 of the world. The kind that breaks Gatsos every time you slip it above 185mph

Cyn, trying not to invoke the wrath of the Daughter of the Night, but a watery HP Celeron system is hardly what I would call reasonable, but then again, not everyone wants a ninja gamers system like we do ^_^, no discernable graphics solution, yet they bundle a 17" TFT, which will run at a native 1280x1024, but will never actually reach its native, as the sluggish onboard graphics that HP use will choke and die at that kind of resolution.

    Even on the DX9 tests...

It's beyond me why companies do 17" TFT's for gamers, yet provide a sloppy graphics solution. My kind of system will run a 17" TFT, in HL2, at native, at around 90fps (Like mine does now! ^_^)

Are you sure they want something half decent (for a computer)? If all they are going to do is type documents, surf the web, and use email, then the computer doesn't need much. The Dell computer you listed there would be great for that kind of customer.

    Damn that names catchy.

I find that dell computer to work just fine for little children who are using mommy and daddy's 56k ISP.

I know the HP isn't "hawt" nor is it "fast", but it will do what they want better then the dell, not to mention the flat screen (which I would NOT use for gaming).

I did forget to mention the graphics controller, of course it is on board, as the one with the dell is too, and like the dell it isn't expandable, but it is 128MB instead of the 64 on the dell. (The ram and the HD are what is amusing personally.)

    @Patch: TVR Speed 12: 1999 800HP 8.1L V12 Naturally aspirated, 0-60 2.5 Seconds, Top end 220 Estimated. $#125,000 retail at the time. Yeah, I want one too. :-)

@Omegaman: He specifically said VIDEO CAMERA.

I didn't mince any words nor did I change any of them, I wrote it verbatim, as it was extremely recent in my memory, which is why I said "not five minutes ago".

    Think that's bad?

On my way back to school from lunch, a person asked me where the train station was.

But here's the stupid part....We were ALREADY in the station. The ticket booth and signs were all over and the person STILL didn't know where she was.

Oh, and the train station in question also acts as a subway if anyone was wondering why I had to walk through it.

We had a packet a while back at the Royal Mail which was wrapped in an old VCR box, anyway it was damaged and fell open. Inside was tons of sex toys! Dildos, gimp masks, them thingies bruce willis had to wear in pulp fiction etc. Anyway I had to bad it all into a large clear plastic bag that has a message on it from Royal Mail apologising about the original packaging getting damaged etc.

I would have given almost anything to be the one to deliver that
