Burnout 3

o...m...g....
Yeh I made a thread a while ago about gettin a PS2, and just three days ago I got burnout 3.

If you own a PS2, and do not have it, you will go out right now and buy it.

The burning laps are frustrating (can't crash at all and have to boost entire time), but other than that it is quite simply one of the funnest games I've ever played. It actually makes me ENJOY losing a position or two if I can take out a guy with me.

It's better on the Xbox. But no matter which system, yeah, it's a fantastic game. I don't like racing games, but I love my Burnout 3.

Yeah, we all loved it initially.

Come back to us in a week and let us know what you think.

...Yep, I'm pretty sure I've had it more than a week. Still a good game. My friends agree.

It was fun with the crashing, but would have been 10x better with a bit more realistic physics engine(turning on dime is bad. At least give SOME resistence, or the ability to do a drift appropriately).

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Pfffffftpfptp!

Burnout 3's just, you know, alright. Crashing into things is a laugh, but I soon tired of the simple racing mechanics. You barely need to steer as you only lose a tiny amount of speed when scraping the sides, the drifting is terrible in comparison to Ridge or Outrun, and being constantly drawn out of the game by the crashes? That's not cool!

It just seems like there's very little skill required.

And skill doesn't mean 'good reaction times'.

I definitely don't mind coming last when I'm taking a guy out.

This game has *NEVER* lost it's appeal for me. Some of you may remember that I played the preview for 2 days straight during e3 last year. I bought it soon after it came out (stupid projects taking up all my time), I still play it whenever I have enough free time for a game or two.

I've probably put in 4-5 hours of online playtime this week alone.

I played this game so much. But it did eventually get old for me... I got like 99.99% done on the game with over 100 hours of play.

I wanted to love it, just one psuedo-racer, but just as with WoW the FPS genre reached up from its Source engine grave and dragged me back down again with sv_gravity 9999.

I liked Burnout 3 for the sheer fun of destroying the other racers, but the gameplay got really old really fast for me and I returned it to the rental place with 5 days left on it.

I secretly have a love of racing games. And Burnout 3 is king of them all. It's great that they sacrificed realism in the name of fun wherever possible. There's too many crashing missions.
