Paintballing Gear
<div class="IPBDescription">advice?</div> I have been invited to tagalong with my friend's company to go paintballing on the 24th. It sounds like alot of fun (especialy as friends and family are paying my way this time).
however as you have probably guess I have never gone paintballing and I am not realy all that sure wth I should bring with me (I can't ask my friend as this is his first time also, and everything that I ask people IRL gets me vauge responses).
So I don't have to wory about mask/goggles/marker/paint as that is all rented from the field.
however people keep saying random things about what else I need. Some peopel just shrug it off, some people say wear lots of heavy cloathing, and most poeple just don't say much.
As I would like to not be in too much pain 2 days after (as I gotta be back at work then), WTH would be a good idea to wear?
That and tips/idea for things to do there would be cool also <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

get some glove's not too tight so you can feel the tang, not too loose so you cant fire your gun.
Old cloth's (but good enough to roll bout in dirt wear n' tear)
They should if they are a good place provide you with a mask and some sort of overall's,
but best research into the place first.
Also it does tang a bit and if they sell smoke nade's its a good idea to use them, paintgrenade's are not worth money, stick together and use your cover most matche's tend to have objective's may it be assault and defned to cap the flag ( think kinda like cs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
Also have fun dont take it too serious, you will want to (if they do not provide it ) have lots of water becuase you will get very hot and hungry, its good exercise you will ache like hell next day but you would have had some fun i wish you best of luck.
Ok, maybe one will do the trick.

I gotta get me one of those <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
See, this is my problem:
I have no old clothes that FIT me still.
And I assume fingerless gloves would probably be a bad Idea?

When I ussed to hang out at the HLPB forums there was a thread about this thing once a week <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
armored gloves, but no fingers to em, cos of course you need your trigger finger...
do NOT wear heavy clthing,,, believe me if they are the usual kinda place they will put you in a boiler soot. and boiler suits.. are HOT yuo will melt..
at the end of the day, its gonna hurt abit. but nothing too bad atall... its ridiculous to spoil the fun by wearing layers lol
keep low. and dont engage anyone less then 8 feet away. for theyre safety and yours.
theyres : itll hurt them like ****
yours : they will probarbly come and put another 20 into you for doing that.
btw fb's do tang
again yeah, make sure to keep aimed on them after you have tagged them, cos damn skippy if there isnt a marshal there, they will fire back as vengeance.
one golden rule
beware of the sup air area. or speedball. it is SCARY. well from my pov
sub you seem to know your stuff, whats your background? i was a paintball marshal for years... and played for the company team
oh, and sub, wth is tang? (aside from a nasty fake orange drink, something to do with swords, and a taste)
beasicly it is a tang you ow that tanged a bit
Is tang a english only thing huh?

edit i was bored so i did a google for paintball tanks and looky what i found
<a href='http://www.armoredfistpaintball.com/tank_news.htm' target='_blank'>a whole web page full of them</a>
DO NOT BE A BIG GIRLY, just wear something light if the place you are going to supplies overalls etc. you dont need 7 jumpers and 5 coats on to play.
Wear decent footwear but old. If its rec ball (i.e in a forest pref wear black trainers or black shoes)
Take a face mask, like a towel u can wear over your mouth if your goggles are not ANTI-STEAM lenses. Use the towel to cover your mouth so you dont steam up.
Some sort of neck protection.
Apart from that you'll be fine. Its soooooooo much fun. And when u are gathered around and given the briefing on the paintball marker, you'll poo yourself cuz of the sound. BUT DONT BE SCARED it doesnt hurt.
oh and getting hit in the groin hurts like fu*k <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Cup: Check
Marker: Check
Gloves: Check
Hat: Check
Shoes: Check
Long Sleeved Shirt: Check
Nuclear Weapons That Make Big Boom: Er...
Yeah... so yeah... All you need is a mask, a long sleeved shirt, some jeans, some old tennis shoes, some gloves and a hat (mainly to reduce the hurt of a paintball slamming into the back of your neck... GOD that hurts.). Oh, and a marker... but usually fields rent those out if you don't have one.

I do that all the time. I either don't get hit and own everyone by being a crazy person, or I get lit up and I get welts and scars.
Pain is gone after about 5 minutes, and chicks dig the wounds.
Also, nothing is more badass on the paintball field then cleaning out your own wound with an iodine wipe and bandaging it right there on the field.

yeah but i got shot in the groin =[
never again
If the place you're going provides overalls then really clothing wise you don't need to take anything 'cept a pair of gloves, I used some fingerless leather ones to protect the back of my hands and if you get shot in the finger its gonna hurt like hell no matter what you're wearing (well except if you wore chainmail I guess...)
My only other advice would be either some tight fitting wellies or some calf/knee high water proof boots (I used russian army surplus motorcycle boots) if the place is going to be wet or have water logged ditches etc, they stop the bottoms of your trousers and feet getting wet, wet trousers = heavy legs = more tired when running and wet feet are just uncomfortable and likely to give you blisters.
And go have fun.
I will try to find out if the place suplies coveralls (I was simply told mask/goggles/marker).
And I probably should buy a pair of jeans (as I never wear them, only khakis)
/me hunts around for gloves...
umm, I don't think a pair of wait training fingerlesgloves will do much (as they are nylon on the back, nad only paded on the inside)
Thanks for the help guys <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
this is gona rock!
I wore t-shirt and jeans and came out with a few bruises and things but nothing major. Was even shot 3 times in the groin and hardly felt it, mainly because a boiler suit over a pair of jeans is more than adequate protection.
Most important thing is to be comfortable, don't wear heavy layers as it's hot and you will be running around a lot. Besides, the pain isn't that bad to be honest, my mates and i had a whole load of ammo left over at the end so just had a muck about, all 5 of us shooting at point blank range <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. We came out with more bruises from that than from the rest of the day but wasn't too bad.
Worst you might get is a bit of blood if it catches you right and it isn't deep. I even got paint in my eye and, 5 mins later after a quick eye bath, I was completely fine.
Be a man, take the pain and win when you're still raring to go at the end and the others are worn out from wearing too much. Oh and that Sub Zero guy? I can assure everyone that we English don't normally write like that and I have never heard the word 'tang' used in that context before.
also most places give you a mask and money is good and if you wear shoes and its been raining make sure they are water proof some how (notihng worse than wet socks)
If its outdoors and in the woods, consider going to the army surplus store and picking up some camoflauge pants/shirt/whatever else you may want.
If its indoors don't bother.
