They seem too clear, especially looking at black and white (...black and yellow/red) photos of the same time period. I figure they may be real, but also slightly colorized and edited to look clearer. Since, if photos could come out that clear in color, then black and white must have been able to come out fairly clear as well.
That picture of, I think, St. Petersburg with the tri-color filters is cool though, and makes sense why it could be so in-depth - and expensive.

Amazing pictures. I'm with a few of you guys in that I'm so used to seeing these kinds of pictures in B&W that actually seeing them in color is just.. freaky.
As for whether these are fake or not, I dunno. I doubt it for some reason.

There was a series in England a while ago (I say England but it must have been broadcast in other countries) that took a load of WW2 footage and colourised it, so maybe the same was just done with these WW1 photos and the description is wrong? (Snopes shows how pictures can be true with a false caption all the time).

Recently on Australian TV they showed this documentary. World War 1 In Colour
It was really good and quite surreal to see all of this footage in colour. They'd done quite an amazing job colourising all the footage; for any historical buffs I'd recommend you track down a copy of this documentary.
*EDIT* I highly doubt colour photography was such in World War 1 that they could take photos like that. I think these photos have been manipulated the same way the video footage in the documentary was. It's still quite impressive
I don't know if these images are "fake" or not, but I agree with the sentiment that seeing them in colour looks pretty freaky. There's just something wierd about seeing colour pictures of something you've only seen in black and white.

The real scary thing it that in some parts of europe the houses and surroundings look exactly like those on the photos. Belgium for example has quite a lot of such areas.

It's more surreal because a B&W picture is a much less personal picture than one in color, and it crosses a personal line of familiarity, thus causing a rift where you say "what the heck? that's not supposed to be there!"
These pictures are awesome. I doubt that they are faked. Its really cool to see these in color from a different angle than we normally saw it. However I'm sure they were photoshoped, as all these movies that are on the WW2 sites have some clearly faked parts as well as the same footaged played "reversed" (to give the .. "illusion" of seeing it from the other side, such as the P-38's dropping the bombs is just the same clip only reversed), but they also have some real bits in there. I think its a mixture of it all. Some of the photos are photoshopped, they might be faked, but some arent.
