The beta testers are now allowed to show of screenshots! Who ever said whining was a bad thing?

    http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthre...&threadid=46747

Valve took some really poor screenshots, because these ones arent so bad.

some of the textures are still pretty poor IMO, i hope they're just placeholders.

I can spot some Hl2 textures and decals. Probably placeholders.

Hmm it doesn't look any different than DoD on hl. So basically we will be getting the same game but with crappier net coding, woohoo!

    I love you Chrono.

p.s. omg ns is just getting 3rd person reload animations lol thatz so stupid and crappy how dare they prioritize the necessary parts of the game instead of focusing on eye candy, i would much rather be able to watch people reload new high-poly guns than have maps to play on. lolz

It's not THAT hard to hack/convert new models to any HL2-mods.

(btw the crosshair still sucks :[ )

He's flipping right though, up until now there has been nothing but whining for screens or movies of DoD:S. Now, 2(TWO) screens are shown that so obviously give you a 100% accurate depiction of the game, and all the pleading for media is replaced by extremely negative feedback. flipping ungrateful is what it is.

Hey look, these people are actually playing it, and aren't just shooting their mouths off like you guys. Of course, if you had common sense, you'd know that a screenshot would never do DoD justice and therefore would know that seeing is NOTHING like playing.

Valve is not little Jimmy showing his creation off in school, arent we allowed to say our opinion whether or not it express negatism regardless of whether or not the DoD community has plead for screenshots.

    Geeez.

The shots from the testers paint a better picture than Valve's shots. Some of them are certainly not flattering, though.

As of now it looks like a cross between HL:S and CS:S in terms of graphical content. That's still better than pasting everything into Source.

One can hope that it will actually be complete once released on Steam and not be an official beta like CS:S is currently.

edit: Check out some of the skybox geometry. Very nice stuff and shows that the mod isn't a hackjob.

look at it this way. CS:S is of a much higher priority to valve than dod:S and cs:S still has only 1 player model for each team. Valve can be lazy. Also consider many of the people that are going to play dod:S already bought it.

edit: I gotta say again though - any update on dod:s is a step in the right direction.

That tree is a model from HL2. It is not a sprite.

It just looks like a sprite cause its a crappy tree.

We can say that till the birds come home for every game in beta but people will always talk about it as if its released. No point even saying it anymore.
