<b>PageDefrag:</b> I installed this, and about half the time I run it I get the message "defragmentation aborted". Would this have anything to do with NortonAV? Or perhaps the chkdsk is borked?

Well, they are both loading at the same stage (post NTFS driver but pre most of the OS), so that they don't have to worry about file locking. Does chkdsk do the same thing?
Side note for everyone that poked: I have started putting together my notes for version two of the XP gamers tuning guide. It'll probably be a few weeks before it's done, but the ball is rolling.

From Mark Russinivich's website. How much free space do you have on the drive with your pagefile, and have you tried doing a regular windows defrag as well?
I have 11.8gb of free space, and a normal windows defrag is no problem. What's odd is, this PageDefrag has worked 3 or 4 times since I've installed it. Perhaps the "defrag aborted" message is normal if it's not needed?
Shouldn't be; I have my home PC's run this, and every time they boot they will try to defrag unless I cancel it. If they have nothing to do, they just say 'page file was in 1 fragment' and move on to the next file. It never aborts.

Next time I reboot (normally daily but on occasion 2x) I'll try disconnecting the keyboard <i>at the correct moment</i>.
