Post-devour Sound Glitch

It's OBNOXIOUS!
Alright, for some reason, my sound always goes screwy after being devoured by an Onos. If I get devoured, while I am in his tummy, I never hear the distorted sounds of being in his tummy- everything sounds normal. As soon as I respawn, however, everything sounds distorted- like I am still in the stomach. But for some reason, after that happens, it never goes away! The only way to fix is I have found so far is to get devoured again and hope my team kills the Onos while I am in his stomach. If I pop out, the sound will be back to normal. Then of course, the other way to fix it is to restart the game, but that's really irritating when I am 50-20 and at the top of my team...

I have an AMD Athlon 3000+ With an ASUS A78V-Deluxe (something-or-other) motherboard. Radeon 9800 Pro video card, and 512 MB of RAM.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I think its a bug that was never worked out.
I even have this issue, but again its more than likely a bug and has been one for along time now.

So... that's it? It hasn't been mentioned in the bug forum and it hasn't been documented as a bug? Is it low priority? I know there are other things that the team is working hard to fix, but dang, it's high priority to me! hehe

/thumbs up to the dev team- I've been watching you, playing with you, and supporting you guys since you started

It's similar to the age-old problem of still hearing the cs_siege echo after changing maps in Counter-strike.

If you have this problem again, type room_type 0 in the console. I'm not positive on this, though. I vaguely remember something about room_type 16, so you should try out some other numbers if 0 doesn't work.

Somebody around here ought to know the number. I hope this helps!

Yep. Type "room_type 0" in the console after you've been devoured and the sound will go back to normal. I seem to be devoured so much I have it bound now!

This doesn't happen to a majority of players. When being devoured by an Onos, the sound will become distorted, and stay like that until they respawn. This has never happened to me before, which leads me to believe it's a hardware problem.

Makes me think it's something to do with EAX, or a sound-blaster card.

Thanks for the advice about room_type, it worked like a charm! Although sometimes I have to toy with it and go between room_type 15 and room_type 16 to get it to sound normal. It's strange... But in any case, it works!

And, I think it may be a hardware issue because I have an integrated sound card on my ASUS board... But who knows really.
