Steam, Hl2and Natural Selection.

<div class="IPBDescription">urm help..</div> Basically i bought HL2 a few weeks ago and without thinking it would effect anything i installed it..how wrong could i be...basically all my games have disapeared of my list most i'm not to bothered about because i havn't played them in ages (much like NS) but i checked the site out the other day and noticed alof of improvements have been made since i pld in like beta 1. So i basically fancied it, now i don't really know how to install it onto steam? basically i have both copies of half life installed on my pc but only one (HL2) shows up on steam? how do i get arround this and get NS onto steam without a cd key? i can't see any other way to do it than "register a product i already own"

or am i being stupid?

(PS i know theres a huge post about NS and steam but its massive and after looking throught first 5 pages it hurt my eyes)

    you neid either a HL1 CD key or a HL2 Silver/gold CD Key to play any HL mods.

    I have HL and HL2 and it always says steam does not have MOD support

    how do i fix it ?

    Did you ever play your original Half Life (or any of its mods) on Steam? If yes then youll need to log into the account that you bound your CD key too. If not, then you can try and bind your old Half-Life cd key to your new account (that has Half-Life 2 on it) by going to Browse Games and clicking on the "register a product I already own..." button.

    I think Silver, as it includes Half-Life: Source, but doesn't come with the posters and stuff.

    silver and gold (online purchaces) both have the valve back catalouge (thus HL1).

    HL1:S WILL NOT WORK!

    as <b>eNGA</b> pointed out, you must install and PLAY HL in steam for mods to work (just boot up the hazard course)
