Flayra. One problem. Since my real name is actually "[MoD]Cha0s C0ntr0L", I don't know if this effects me or not, but I found <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> MoDChas CntrL => MoDChas Cntrl <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I dont get it. My name follows the requirements, doesnt it??
Besides, [MoD]Cha0s C0ntr0L is readable as mod chaos control, I dont think anyone can pronounce MoDChas Cntrl .... isnt that the whole point???
Chaos Control, part of the new naming system would remove your [] characters:
<b>2.</b> Numbers and non-alphabetic characters are not allowed, with the exception of spaces. Spaces aren't allowed at the start or end of a handle, and only one space is allowed in a row.
Yours is one of the names that don't convert very well I guess. I'm assuming you'll want to change it to 'Chaos Control' or 'Mod Chaos Control' or something, which shouldn't be a problem.
I'm hoping most people will be satisfied with their new names if they are changed in the conversion, but I'd definitely be open to changing some of them manually if desired (so long as they weren't changing them to something totally different). That much is clear now at least.
I'm not hearing a huge outcry at least, which is great. x5, I can change your name to something else for you, as I agree that xxx is totally different and not what you had in mind... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Maybe just 'xfive'? <b>@Flayra:</b> I think that non.compos.mentis has a great idea here. If you can you should allow an option to change your current forum name to something else when you switch websites.
And as an additional feature wouldn't it be so cool to have affiliations? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> i.e allow an option in your profile that can set your account to be affiliated with the kharaa or frontiersman. Strange that my name wasn't listed since it seems to match a few of the criteria of "bad names". Shame we can't change them drastically too since I haven't used this name in years, save the few forums I registered to with it. Guess I'll be making a new account at some point in the future.
According to the new naming policy, my account would automatically be renamed to KaMiKaZe. The problem is, that the account kamikaze is already registered (by someone who made one post two years ago then disappeared). What happens in this situation? Is my account just removed, do I get priority over him, or do I get KaMiKaZe2 or something horrible like that? =[
Just curious, would hate to have to choose a new name.
[c]oma is my unique nickname which i've been using for, well, i guess about 7 years already, maybe even longer, and i won't stop using it. i don't care too much if you want to change it in the forum, but in-game my name was, is, and will be, [c]oma. with the brackets (und keine eier!!!).
so change it to anything you want, plain 'coma' is ok with me... but really, i won't change my in-game name so in my specific case it will only add to the name confusion...
Isn't the restriction on caps a bit much? If it's to make names easier to type etc., I doubt anyone will be confused if I use "name" instead of "NaMe". As far as I can tell, it'll only restrict the use of acronyms, such as clan tags. And of course if you want more than 4 words in your name, each with a capital letter, you can't have it. Perhaps it won't affect that many, but would it hurt all that much to discard that rule?

So if manually requested, I would probably change:
'Scr3am' to 'Scream'
'(KCSA) Robert Paulson' to 'Robert Paulson' (if you want)
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>
'SpaceMoogle5' to 'SpaceMoogleFive'</span>
'5kyh16h91' to 'Skyhigh' <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

I guess there is no need to change my username!
