Eh Churchill warned that theyd attack Britan, Bush was warned of an attack and chose to ignore it.

Game, set and match.

Besides this topic is about the banning of foreign computer users access to a website so stay on topic and kill some of the flames.

Look, I'll be happiest if Bush loses on November 2nd. But blocking people from countries who can't vote from accessing a website they have no need to view is not stifling free speech, it's saving the server for people who actually want to visit the website from America, which is where it would matter. If you're in another country and you really really really want to make an informed decision when you pretend to vote, you can visit one of a million other websites.

I've decided that rather than push for the underdogs in this election, I'm going full blown Bush lover! That way I can watch all you uninformed whiners post consipacy theories and unfounded hyperbole for another 4 years.

Really people, this Boogeyman Syndrome you're suffering from is boderline psychosis.
Here's a - go buy a clue.

I'm surprized this thread grew so quickly just because it's in off-topic, instead of discussions, where it was already being talked about.

Should I merge them into Discussions or OT?

Leave it here. Many people like doomeh are scared of the discussion forums

Anyone here see South Park last night? It summed up this year's election very well:

You have a choice between a giant douche or a turd sandwich. Either way it's gonna suck.

But, on topic, it is kind of weird to ban all countries from viewing the web site. Why ban Australia? Aren't they one of the USA's best allies right now? Seems like they overreacted a little bit to me. Why not just block the ones you don't want viewing your site? That's a better way to keep the leet NK haxors from defiling your bastion of democracy and freedom on the internet.

Jingoism, perhaps. But don't call it stupidity right off the bat.

I'm about to merge this thread into the one in Off-Topic, which seems to have grown much more quickly despite being started later.

I'll just repeat what I said in the discussion thread about this.

They are probably blocking out of country IPs to save on bandwidth. With less than a week to the election, potential voters need the information more than those in other countries. Kerry would be wise to do the same with his site. Long load times because of heavy bandwidth will cause a lot of people not to bother. Its all about getting your information to those who count.

No doubt because in off-topic we can insult the other man's party without really thinking about it, while in discussions you have to come up with big words and stretch your paragraphs in order to do the same thing.

Personally i would favour kerry to win, although it's no major disposition either way. Although it's does amuse me that the american people have to choose between someone who looks like frankensteins monster and a monkey man

Speaking from experience?

Yes. Microsoft has a an interest in driving up visitors to its sites. More visitors correlates to more customers.

Government servers are set up to save money. The more people who visit those sites the more they cost. That eats away at your budget. Why run more server than you need?

C.S. Lewis described patriotism beautifully, in that there's nothing wrong with believing that your country is the best in the world, as long as you fully understand that people from other nations are also going to share such nationalism. I love my country, I respect your right to love yours, but that won't stop me from showing my support for my nation.

There is nothing wrong with nationalism. It can be both good and evil. Just depends on the situation.

.Lewis put it perfectly indeed.

Nationalism is a fun way to control the mindless masses, I'm surprised that it still works despite the alleged progress society has made.

Never underestimate a person who would kill someone for $22.50 or handles firearms and alcohol at the same time. They find cunning new ways to surprise you with inane statements each and every day.

EDIT: For anyone wondering, Restricted Members is the group that doesn't have access to the discussions forum as they've proven themselves to be unable to discuss without flamebaiting, posting inane crap or being generally immature.

I said id kill someone if they tried to rob my company. To give you an idea, I know people killed for the money in their pocket, you think I trust the police to defend me from the world's problems? If anything the police here will side with me.

I handle firearms and alcohol (unless im cleaning) seperately.

The reason im "restricted" was of an entirely different matter then this, like it matters anyway that forum allows much harder extremists then me to post their banther but I get edited.
