eh, classifying stuff into genres just gets people riled up, so I'll just classify the following bands into the "stuff I like" category. They're at least closer to 'rock' than, say, the sisters Simpson or something. Current favorite 3 are:
Matchbook Romance Motion City Soundtrack Autopilot Off
Favorite song recently, though, that's challenging... One I've been hooked on for a while is "Like the Angel" by Rise Against. "Warbrain" from Alkaline Trio ranks up there, too.
I dunno, I've just been in a music rut lately. I just don't hear of many new bands these days. I don't listen to the radio, and I always get behind in keeping up on my favorite labels and new bands/cds online. I suppose I could always actually buy a Motion City Soundtrack CD instead of just listening to their songs on various compilations... And I'm still behind on my Bad Religion collection... but meh.

Are Manowar and Bal Sagoth like that romanticistic medieval tosh-band, Rhapsody?
Honestly, I saw one of their music videos, in which they were swordfighting balls of light - complete with Godawful digital effects - and I swiftly classified them as one of the worst bands in existence.
It didn't help that the actual music was an affront to the precarious genre that is metal; it sounded like an ugly cat orgy in some piddle-ridden ghetto.

I have no actual list, lately I am listening to Rammstein, like alot. I also like Marilyn Manson, at least for his cryptic way of saying things. Most of the Kill Bill vol1 soundtrack is worth listening, nice chilling music.
That's just what I've listened to the most, lately. I could go on and on about every genre of rock that I love. Different bands for different moods, et cetera, et cetera. I won't even try to name my favorite song, there's just too much music out there.

Bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, Eels. But I dont listen much to "acoustic" music any more, rock is dying, more or less. Too much of the same, too few good songs in an album. Electronic music is the future.
Its nice to see such a broad range of rock music here, aswell as having people that all like the same stuff. Normally threads like this are like back on page 2 "OMG Thats Crap" etc. but people are actually starting to appreciate the music of others.
Going through the list I've made a note to get some Korn, Bad Religion, Rammestein, Rise Against & The Ramones. I've either heard of them before, or see them pop up quite a bit here

Hmmm.... Muse (Butterflies & Hurricanes atm), Stereophonics (Stopped To Fill My Car Up) (no idea if they're classed as rock or what but who cares i'm sure a few music buffs will come and correct me, then chastise my taste in music whilst claiming their own to be the only sensible one, and that they themselves are far superior, mentioning no names of course) and... I dunno. The Strokes (Last Night), probably.
I'm not really a music buff as in "this band is that genre" and so on, but meh.
Other rock bands I like that I haven't seen in this thread yet:
Blondie Nirvana Ocean Colour Scene Supergrass Terrorvision Placebo Faith No More Garbage
