    Bringing a Canadian team into the tournament would be cool, but I don't know if we have the talent right now to be able to.

    zaiko: just cut it. No-one wants to hear your childish reasoning.

    Good for you that you bunnyhop with bind space +jump. Feel proud and continue to do so, but just because you find scripts (that are built in to the halflife engine and well as the source engine, I might add) cheating, doesnt mean that they are. Its your personal opinion.

    I think that the funniest thing is that everyone who's totally anti-scripts are 100% ok with mousewheel. Talk about hypocracy.

    I have nothing against scripts (even though I dont like _special) and I'm really looking forward to non-_special beta 6.

    Im so sick of all eu clans thinking that scritps are cheating, and Ive even gotten comments from people who say that scripts and aimbots are the same thing.

    Get over yourselves and get some facts.

    That is correct, usage of scripts simply don't appeal to some people, which is why we should stop arguing about it.

    I'm sorry, but i'm both anti-scripts <b>and</b> anti-wheels, in fact, i'm anti console usage, but that's another issue.

    I don't know where you got it from, but you're talking out of your arse, a lot of clans fancy usage of scripts in the Europe. Europe probably does however, have the smallest percentage of scripters in comparison to other continents.

    Travis Dane: when was the last time you played a scrim/pcw? if you would have played after the beta5 release you would have noticed the number of clans that frown upon scripting, I dont want to call any names that Im not sure of (I play about 2 pcws/night so it can be hard memorizing all the names) but I can say for sure that for example BM hates scripts.
  • LumpLump Join Date: 2003-04-16 Member: 15558Members
    he's played about 20 in the last week for my clan, have u played 20 in the last week coris?

    please stop talking about scripts. its not the issue and doesn't need any form of discussing FOR A LONG TIME.

    concentrate on getting teams together at 1st please.. now spread the word throughout and lets keep things moving.

    thats all.

    Lump: no actually I havent, but I havent been able to play so much this week because of studies.

    Well, TravisDane, then you SHOULD know how many clans that actually enforce bs_1. Or maybe you dont notice because cuc does it too? I actually have no clue if you do.
    Anyway, I agree with lump, now lets just move along and get back to the subject.

    The thing is we are ok with bs_1 in gamingorb although I might be more comfortable with +3jump... Nobody is whining in matches... No meaningless script antiscript discussions... We accept and respect the rules of that organisation... We think it as a standart car race instead of pro-tuned one... The matches and gameplay is still fun and entertaining... If US people dont want to participate in a bs_1 league thats fine... But forcing an organisation to change the rules for minority of participants is funny for me...

    Somebody said a nice word about adabting... who was he actually???

    It's funny how every NS scene except the USA one is ignorant about scripts.

    Nevertheless, I showed lump a plugin which disables _special, and allows all other scripts to be used.

    People need to understand you cannot get rid of scripting in competetive play. The best way to kill scripting is make the game features that abuse it redundant, not to remove scripting.

    Scripting abuses something in the game by using basic computer commands (Spamming a command is what computers were built to do, a loop command is what makes a computer so powerful). Remove the abusable features of the game and then there's no need for scripting.

    After scripting, there are mousewheels, mouse drivers, keyboard macros, etc. etc.

    harmless scripts like requesting a medpack via voicecom and sayteam isn't that evil, but when it comes to spamming commands to be able to jump exactly when you hit the ground, it's too much advantage

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I think that the funniest thing is that everyone who's totally anti-scripts are 100% ok with mousewheel. i'm both against binding mwheel to +jump or +attack, or in any other way you can use it spam something to get advantage
    i'm although, not against being able to switch weapons or anything like that via it.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I have nothing against scripts (even though I dont like _special) and I'm really looking forward to non-_special beta 6.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    you like to spam commands anyway, i don't see the difference if you do it with _special, scripts, mousewheel or macros - it's the same thing

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Im so sick of all eu clans thinking that scritps are cheating, and Ive even gotten comments from people who say that scripts and aimbots are the same thing.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    scripts and aimbots the same thing?
    well, atleast you might say that aimbot and macros are the same thing (both a 3rd party solution)

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Get over yourselves and get some facts.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    what facts?
    that all alien players in 1.04 that played vs teamUSA for teamEUROPE used a simple button bound to +jump or that european top clans like bm can play on a top level without spamming commands ?

    --

    scripts are harmless, unless you doesn't spam commands

    a player that use a leap+bite script never can be as good or as fast as a player doing it manually
    same for blink+swipe scripts

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Scripting abuses something in the game by using basic computer commands (Spamming a command is what computers were built to do, a loop command is what makes a computer so powerful). thats not even "good" philosofy behind scripting. i mean, people script because they want to use the computers first purpose?
    spamming commands is the major issue in ns, and scripting can be used for doing it

    i don't believe this is childish reasoning at all, it's just childish that people can't play ns without an extra wheel or script/application spamming commands for them

    Yeah right. Looks like you don't really know what they do.
  • coriscoris Join Date: 2003-07-08 Member: 18034Members, Constellation
    zaiko, first of all my postcount has nothing do to with my skill or my knowledge. Thinking otherwise is just stupid.

    May I ask how spamming a command is getting an advantage? Shooting fast with the pistol with mouse1 bound to +attack is spamming a command. Maybe we should forbid that?

    May I also ask, what makes spamming a command with the mouse and the mousewheel any different?

    Why does it give such a great advantage to be able to spam a command?

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    you like to spam commands anyway, i don't see the difference if you do it with _special, scripts, mousewheel or macros - it's the same thing<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Absolutley not. What makes it so different is that 3jumpscripts still DO require timing - just 1/3 less of what bind space +jump does.
    The reason why _special is frowned upon and disliked is because it only requires you to simply hold a key and thereby get perfect timing. Thats a major difference.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->what facts?

    Well, thats their choice. Dont restrict other people from using scripts just because you/they dont like them.

    I accept that you dont like scripts and refuse to use them. Just dont come to the NSforums and calling everyone else for nubs/idiots/whatever for not thinking the same way you do.

    I think that you should read forlorn's topic regarding scrubs, it might give you something to think about.
  • CartiCarti Join Date: 2003-07-12 Member: 18099Members, Constellation
    Isnt there some plugin which detects _special being used? I thinks its for AMX though..

    You could make servers use that and still have blockscripts set to 0.
