I'm also quite lucky to only have a Gamecube, though I very much want a PS2 and an XBox, as there are so many good games out there that I don't have access to.

I'll still be going broke this winter though..

    PC: Half-Life 2, Vampire,
Gamecube: Metroid Prime 2, Prince of Persia, Mario Party 6

And a DS: Mario, Crystal Chronicles

If I had an XBox: Halo 2
    If I had a PS2: Jak 3

Okay.. Maybe not so broke... and on second thought the DS launch titles don't seem all that great (where's my Advanced Wars DS?? March... is where. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

Actually, looking at the upcoming games list, I'm far more afraid of February-March than November-December. DS: Advanced Wars, Metroid GC: Fire Emblem, Star Fox, Starcraft: Ghost, Time Splitters, Zelda

    oi. I need a job.

    Nah, blowing it on beer. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
You're much more likely to spend the money now, then save up with it later if it's in your pocket. Especially if you have a job (or just don't look in the future much), where you say, "What do I need this money for? I'll have some more in a little bit."

Generally I'm pretty stingy with my money anyway, and don't usually plan on buying anything I don't want to - although there is an odd mistake (SuperPower? Only $10 <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ...would be decent if it were fleshed out and doctumented, anyway).

If I didn't have a job, my money would have been saved for Halo 2, Half-Life 2 and Fable, solely. Now that I have a job, I've got Sims 2, R:TW and Fable pocketed, with money set aside for Halo 2 (CE) and Half-Life 2 (...silver or boxed version - juries in deliberation).

However, if it were spread out over the entire year, I'd feel more comfortable spending $50 a month for a year than $250 in one month (unless it's a service <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).
Say you make $1000 a month and you haven't really been setting aside any, 500 to rent, 250 to bills and food...would you really want to spend the rest on video games, or save some incase you need it?

[which, conversely, you'd be fine spending 50 of for a game per month]

    ...just an example.

    ITS TRUE

While I might get the DS eventually, I'm probably going to be busy alternating between my current 5 or so games until nov 16th, when the crisis starts.

Y'know that's actually going to happen a lot more than if these games had a nice amount of breathing room - people will be like "Crap I'm out of money," and then their friends are gonna start pointing them to warez sites and the joys of mod chips...

Personally, I don't care that all these games are coming out so close to each other becuase between Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 I'm not gonna be able to leave the house to buy more games for a few months, during which my cash supply with magically replenish itself. Other games I'm going to get are Echoes, STALKER, Bloodlines, the Doom 3 expansion, StarCraft: Ghost, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, and some others, but the last few are relatively low priority so I know where my money is going.

New Vampire game, waiting with HL2 untill the good mods come out I think. And no console, which leaves a lot of money for beer and other gastronomic goodness <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I think it goes without saying that lots of people are going to fail classes this term.
