I tend to just look at websites, mabye play a few games (ones that dont need much processing power) sometimes I just go out.
man, you just made me yearn uncontrollably for an earlier period in my life . . .
*sigh*
Unfortunately, I don't have a significant other of any kind at the moment. I happen to go to a college at which the number of women is comparable to the number of guys named Dave.
This makes things difficult.

little bit much.
comparrison:
map - ns_source_b31
architecture - hell! (scratches on each limit)
system - 1.5ghz / 512 mb ram
compile time - little more than 1 (!!!) hour
so where do this 3 hours come from?
what I do in the meantime: go watch tv, go play some games on my ps2, drive to buy some things, tidy up my computer room, eat, call a friend. there are so much possibilities but it would not be enough to fill up 3 hours! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I look around forums, kick brute_force a bit, chat in IRC... but if I can I'll just leave it compiling while I'm at class... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
belgarion you will get a personal invitation to the betatest... and then will will see if you dare to call it ugly. "just took 1 hour, so its ugly with all the stuff missing thats make a map look pretty!"

CSG:7 min
BSP:3 min
VIS:20 min
RAD: 1h 20 min
When I'm doing small compiles (CSG+BSP=10min) I'm messing on NS mapping forum or Score phorum, reading Webmagazines or checking e-mail/icq. Medium compiles (CSG+BSP+VIS=30min) - I eat, read comics/books/magazines or prepare for school ( <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ). Full compiles (~2 hours) I'm doing during night when I sleep.
@Lt.Gravity: Do you invite me to teh private betatest too ? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

There are so many Dave's at my uni. I'd be sex-rich <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
P.S. I do nothing because I don't have a computer to compile on. I'm nearing breaking point and thinking more and more that 100 pounds sterling isn't too much to pay for a completed map...

BWAHAHAH! You made me spill cola over my keyboard. Sorry, but that's hilarious.
As for me, I go watch TV, IRC a bit, check out various websites, chat with friends and listen to music.
WTH? isnt that like $350 in us dollars?
and while i wait, i turn chair around to other computer and play quake 3.
ns_g0op_siege][ takes about 20 mins to compile
Have fun <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I get evrything i want dont to the map, stat the compile, turn off the monitor and
a) watch CSI
b) get nookie
c) sleep
Usually in that order... followed by waking up and going to work. I normally have to wait 24 hours to see the result.
omg....
Seriously... nulling faces, correcting erroneous cuts or otherwise obsolete geometry, simplifying things.
That and music.
I put on a few good albums and wait for the time to fly by.
During a normal compile I usually listen to "Styx - Renegade" a few hundred times. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And I recommend the lot of you do the same. Jesus, theres no reasonable explanation as to why you should have such high compile times.
Simple solution: Learn to use well placed hint brushes and compile time can actually go down.
Over weekends, I try and save compiling for overnight or when I go out. If that's not possible however, I look for my collection of trance CD's (how I find them, I don't know, my room is the biggest bloody mess out there) and bounce around the room for 3 hours.
Worthless sidenote: By the time beta-2 is done (if it's ever done as I have a useless work ethic), it's probably going to take a lot longer than the abovementioned 3 hours.
