<div class="IPBDescription">Woop de friggin do?</div> Ok, I realize the source engine pwnd j00, but... CS:S is just normal CS w/ physics and pretty water... What's the big deal?
The only thing I can see is it will attract a lot of former CS players and get them to spend $$ on Valve's new toy.
Personally, I don't see the point in CS:S, now, if it were, say all new, completly re-designed, new maps/gameplay modes, and took advantage of the HL2 engine, rather than a strait port of the orrginal CS, then yea... But I don't get it...
please asplain to mah...

Um, I'd much much much rather have NS2, I've played NS, I love it, but the point in porting it is?

If you gave me NS or the exact same NS on the source engine for a full game's cost, I'd chose current NS.
Except of course, I'd believe physics have a lot more to gain in NS than in CS.

simple.
buy through steam = CS:S AND HL2 (when its done <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
and that is just the bronze package
Or have to wait for it to install or go to your local retailer and HOPE they have it.
While you stand in the rain crying because some pimplesaurus rex with bbq stained strench pants and a star wars t-shirt just slapped his greasy hands on YOUR copy of HL2 all the while slopping down a bigmac, I will be playing it already. Mmmmm
Yup. The tire is like a minigame <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Did you see what I did there? Your point is?

Exactly. CDs and DVDs are going to be obsolete soon; why buy data on a stupid piece of destructable plastic when you can simply download it to your computer? If you're paranoid or something about Steam deleting your account, you are allowed to burn the .gcf files to a CD and there you go.
1) better graphics (dont gimme that "w00p w00p i dont give a damn" because i know you do)
2) better physics (""")
3) ... well i guess thats it but still ... it sounded like some of you actually though the graphics and stuff were the exact same... wth?
Not just awesome, CRAZY awesome. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I agree, I was watching a tech.show and Doug Lambardi was on it, disscussing the SDK.
Looks badass.

I think it's safe to assume that everyone was fully aware that the graphics and physics were at least superficially different.

He was just asking why bother <u>paying</u> for a game that is functionally identical to one you can have for free. Do the graphics really justify the pricetag?
(I think so, but I'm just stating his question)
Only 5 years? It'll be ragdoll <i>something</i> for at least 10 years.
I haven't played cs:s yet though. probably won't till HL2 comes out.

Or you get a reserved copy and the store calls you the day they get it.
