I think the Metal Slug series DEFINITELY has the potential to survive the transition to 3D, but not if this is the result. I agree with everything said-- massively low-poly and textures faded to all hell. Where are the DX9 shader effects? Where is the dynamic lighting and real-time shadows? Hell, *cel-shade* it! Metal Slug is a cartoon, and if they lose that all-important element in the transition to 3D, it's over. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Uh, yeah, you go program that for something other than a PC. agreed, metal slug has always been a win side scroller, I can see the pulling a grand theft and moving the game to 3d, but not how they are doing it right now.
I hope it's good, still. As long as it's good I won't care too much. I just hope they don't call it "Metal Slug 5" or whichever one it is, because... I dunno, it seems like a separate game.

What we should be harping on about is how Metal Slug just won't work in this perspective. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Graphics don't matter to gameplay but if they cant put effort in something as essential as graphics what do you think the gameplay will be

If these are only proof-of-concept graphics, then they really have no brains to be showing them to the general public. The *only* reason to show screenshots is to show off graphics, and these shots clearly don't have 'em.
Like I said, I have faith that Metal Slug can survive the transition to 3D, but the graphical style is going to make or break it. And this is way, way broken right now.

The issue is that the view is from over the shoulder of your character.
That is NOT Metal Slug. That is not how it ever should be.
I can't believe it. Even if the graphics had been amazing I can't imagine it being metal slug without the best pixel art you'll ever see.
What a disappointment.
