While it is nice to see regular updates once again I'm going to have to agree with Marine01, is there any particular reason these updates are not being posted on the main page? Or failing that, a shortened post with a link to the forum announcement.

Why? So outside people can see that work is continuing on B5? People who care will either be checking their own fan site (which hopefully is getting the news from me) or coming to the forums. People who aren't part of the community won't understand the context in which these changes are occuring. I appreciate your opinion, however I strongly disagree....
On a side note, I suspect this is the last of the long delayed updates. And since there is community news going on all the time, that information will be shared.
Just to clarify this a bit: The weapon and the ammo that are dropped are "connected" in a way (for example if you drop them on a ledge the ammo will "hover" in the air if the weapon dropped on the ledge), however a player that already carries the weapon that lies in the floor will only pick up the ammo. When you pick up a weapon you will also pick up the ammo next to it.
This feature played quite well during the last tests, because it allowed Marines to make "full" use of weapons dead comrades drop. This indirectly results in slightly less resources that the commander has to spend on ammo packs and new equipment for people that died beause they picked up an empty weapon.
I like that the text is mirrored <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <a href='http://www.aptiris.com/~mwindle/aug23/image6.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.aptiris.com/~mwindle/aug23/image6.jpg</a>
And it looks like the ammo is included in the p_model since the ammo next to the LMG looks exactly the same on all pictures.
Nice, but more bling-bling for the Marines? Can't we have something nice for the Aliens too? Maybe when a skulk gets killed it drops it's teeth and then a gorge can come by and pick them up and be able to bite spit, the gorge's model can even change to have huge skulk teeth, it would be almost as good as a big dog with bees in it's mouth... <-- Joke.
Thanks for the update, it is nice to know what we have to look forward to.

Hey Zunni, quick question: Do you think it will be just a few days, weeks, or months before b5 comes out? Not an exact release date, just how close is it? (very close, just a few days, pretty close, within the next week or so, close, within a month, we have what we need but we want lots more, a few months, etc.)
Just wondering...if I will be able to play before school starts in 6 days now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

The ability to pick up dropped ammo magazines is a cosmetic as well as a gameplay and even a faux-atmosphere update. It makes sense to be able to pick up someone's ammo reserves. Whether or not you'd rather the team be doing other things with their time, ammo magazines are a nice little touch.
Map changes are alright. I wish they would just do what Counterstrike does and throw a number at the end of a map name to indicate what update it's from and let us play the old versions too. There are days that I'd love to play on some of the 2.0/3.0 maps in their original configurations. Agora has changed so many times, I'm beginning to wonder if it's the first NS meta-map, like silly putty. How long until we see retro-updates to maps, like say ns_caged, bringing back the original Shipping Transfer with the weldable secret RT, those slowly opening and closing airlock doors, and the CC location you had to ride an elevator to get into. And I like the 1.04 Caged's Stability Monitoring room better too.
Yay for news. I don't go to announcements. Thanks for crossposting.

All I can say is at this time is, I can't comment to the exact release date or even just give a general timeline. This is due to the fact that testing is continuing (due in large part to the group of dedicated playtesters) and if they uncover something, it may adjust the timeline. So it would be cruel for me to get your hopes up just to let them back down. Trust me, we are doing everything in our power to get B5 into your hands as quickly as possible
