Alien strategy is in a rut with the current beta. The winning formula is DCs -> Fade -> Hive 2. That is all alien strategy is. In clan games, with lots of organization, you can do MC or even (gasp!) SC first, but only on maps that support it, and it's a one-shot thing. If your early MCs and SCs don't help contain the marines and keep your early nodes up, the game is over. Early DCs mean a fade can stay alive even if the second hive gets locked down or sieged out while its building. If aliens get the second hive, they almost always win. If they don't, they almost always lose very quickly. It's entertaining, but it's not as much fun as it used to be. There's little pleasure in skulking, because you die so fast. Gorges can't even take on a rambo anymore, so perma-gorging has lost any strategic viability it once had. Lerking can be fun on pubs, but if the enemy has decent aim, you just become a flying easy kill. Fades are the be all, end all of alien strat at the moment, and that makes aliens not nearly as fun as they once were.
So people stack marines. At the very least you get to shoot a lot of stuff, and even if the rest of the team doesn't work together, you can always rambo off and play one man army until the aliens do manage to field fades. On aliens, lack of teamwork means a painful, wasted game. Thus, marine stackage. It's sad, but it's true.

I've played ns for a long time and I'm not sure i've met anyone in game yet who's said they've read the manual.
Unchaining chambers would be very foolish and at the same time have very little affect on pubs. It's not going to happen.
As for ns growing stale theres not really much that can be done about that.

But it is true that the manual says that marines is hte easier team... but it's not the newbies that stacks the Marines, it's the older more experienced players, while all the new players are stuck to go alien which they almost understand something about it.
