Nothing new to me, I was reading about a weapon the chinese are developing that is based on nanites. Its a bomb that when detonated releases millions of nanites which enter the lungs and travel to the brain where they determine the genomes of their host, if they are of asian decent they will be fine. IF they are caucasian they die. Scary thought

That's an Israeli weapon no doubt, Israel and China are pretty good weapons partners. Ethnic weapons were suppost to be in development. We will simply make nanites capable of removing these evil nanites rendering this bomb useless

Meh the only thing about the "Grey Goo" theory that dosn't sit well with me is that I belive there are plenty of other planets with lifeforms far more advanced then our own on them, and I know allot of other people do to.

So perhaps it's safe to assume that they too have discovered nanotech and mastered it, so if this gray goo thing can happen why havn't we been crushed by a giant gray wall yet?

....although it is oddly dark out as I type this....

Edit: CWAG is that bomb your talking about even close to a real weapon or are you just kidding around. I would love to read something about that kind of weapons tech if you have anything on it?

I remember reading something about the exponential growth of bacteria. Like if they were able to grow without any limiting factors like death/food. That they would outweigh the universe in like a week.

Also, a device that would attempt to counter it would probably fail, because it would need to destroy proteins, and a lot of the human body is protein.

For some reason that weapon you are talking about sounds familiar. Mayhaps I have read an article on it? Could have been NYTimes or something, I don't remember anymore.

One of the hardest problems with that bomb is encoding the protein just right, so it knows exactly how and what to target. It's basically just a man made virus in the end though. Upon checking the person's DNA to find their Race, it would either use the sell to replicate and destroy it in the process, or ignore the cell and lay dormant if it is the right Ethnicity.

But being a virus, the cure would have to be an anti-biotic (though those are usually only effective against bacteria) or a vaccine, which is more likely. A vaccine would train the white blood cells to detect and eliminate said proteins. I suppose spreading the virus is easy though, just use the bomb to spread it through the air.

Grey goop theory is crap, its based on technology we can't produce on a massive scale, let alone a micro scale (molecular reconstruction). The chineese protien bomb unfortunately is crap too, viruses aren't capable of ethnic discrimination quite yet.

How would the bomb be able to determine which race is which? Arn't we all technically the human race? I mean sure you could test for lower melatonin levels and whatnot, but arn't we essentially the same thing?

Please correct me if I am wrong, I am just opposed to ethnic discrimination.

technically theres no different race, but there are genetic differences between a black man and say an indian.
