...NS needs more Dreadnoughts. It'd sort out the balance problems.

Dreadnoughts rock my face, as do Assault Terminators. Nothing like watching troops go flying 50 feet over walls. Assault Terminators can tear vehicles to shreds when they get in range (Assault termies are terminators that forgo ranged weaponry in lieu of a big damn hammer and a shield. They're melee guys, they destroy morale.) Assault troops also can come in handy for routing troops attempting to fall back and regroup when their morale is broken.

The Heavy Bolter and Flamethrower eat up morale as well.

Yes Eek, until that person realizes that he has just run into the squad cap and cannot make Terminators or more builders.

3 squads of Space Marines equiped with 4 Heavy Bolters can defend incredibly well against any infantry attack. It's surprising how well they do, seriously. You just see lines and lines of infantry falling dead long before they reach your marines.

If I'm going anti inf with my marines, I prefer 2 heavy bolters and 2 plasma guns to take out any heavy infantry.

Thats one of the problem with this game, that basic Space Marines are too hard because they're too flexible. They're quick to get out, and still useful late game. Although their weakness is that they have no effective way of taking down an Avatar/Bloodthirster/Squiggoth.

I think NemO needs beating with another certain heavy book...

the problem with Heavy Bolters is that they cant be fired while on the move and it takes like 30 seconds for them to get set up when you are still, so if you ambush the marines while their in transit their pwned.

Use Heavy bolters to take out orks and lots of eldar units (and Chaos Cultists)

    Otherwise use plasma guns.

Against vehicles, get two squads with rocket launchers

Against everyone: Get at least one squad with flamers, they OWN morale.

Eldar vehicles plus that lightning storm thingie is crazy. The vehicles blow up your vehicles, and if you try to hit them with rocket launchers you just get zapped into oblivion.

First you have to have the Orbital Relay building to use it, then your commander dude from the Chapel Barracks is the guy who triggers it. Get him in range, clicky, wait for the charge, and...

    *boom*

Giant beams of explosive doom and destruction rain from the sky.

If anyone spots me in any channel, shout at me and I'll give you a game. And you will lose, oh yes. Oh yes, my pretty.

I never did like RTS games as Player vs Player - I really much prefer a good Co-op game with a friend. Usually an impossibly hard one in which we *ALMOST* get beat into oblivion, but turn it around and slowly push back and win. Fun times.

Ok, 30 seconds is a bit of an overstatement They don't take so long to deploy that your gonna get pwned. Likewise, Missle Launchers can't fire on move and take even longer then HBs to deploy. Plasma guns are inaccurate as hell when moving. All 3 have their weaknesses when moving, so its not just the HBs that your gonna get "pwned" if you get ambushed.

Heavy bolters still do large damage to other Marines for instance, and if you wait for Plasma guns, your gonna be without heavy weapon support for awhile.

MLs for anti-vehicle....depends on how the game goes and who I'm playing. Against orcs I wouldn't bother. Too slow firing, and orc vehicles are weak, so HBs and Plasma can take them down. Against SM, if they mass Land Speeders then I don't have a choice. Overall I'd rather have Predators with all las cannons then Missle Launchers when its comes to anti-vehicle damage.

Flamers vs everyone? Sniper rifles and Whirlwinds are better for breaking morale and they do more damage.

I love getting loads of Whirlwinds. Everyone is broken, on their arses all the time, and I can deny avenues of attack all from the safety of my base

Anyone having trouble trying to play online? I am using my Gamespy account but it keeps saying that it isn't a valid name...

Chrono: It isn't that the AI in EE is hard to beat, it's just that the game cheats. I mean, unlimited resources and map hacks. I have seen allied AI players build barracks, tank factories, and docks off the bat.
