Have any of you tried the mod that puts a flashlight on your pistol? It makes the game a lot more fun.
I for one would love to play NS on a newer engine, the aliens would look so much cooler, although the game's pace may change a lot. IMO, NS on Doom3 would be a much slower paced game, which could still be a lot of fun.

Practically everyone licenses engines nowadays, building one from scratch is almost psychotic due to the immense costs involved, not to mention the time you have to wait before they actual 'game' starts being made.
Licensing an engine is something like 10x cheaper than building one from scratch and you can spend the time you would have spent working on -how- to put pretty graphics on the screen actually -making- pretty graphics and a great game.

I would definetely like to see ns in other engine than hl. at least having in new engine will fix the hit box issue. the new engine prolly be from hl2.
I could see the ideal Natural Selection as somewhat of a cross between Halo's outstanding multiplayer gameplay and drop-jaw graphics of Doom3. In my opinion, if you could quite literally scare a player repeatedly while they play, you've successfully achieved what I'd be looking for. It is difficult to be scared after long playing, and in fact it is in part due to the fact that you realize you aren't actually there, but to instill a sense of caution and reluctance for fear of jumping out of their seats is something that is possible to obtain each and everytime you play.
I don't know.. maybe they should wire you to a chair with electric wires all over that will really zap you when you are hurt in the game. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> At least then you'd really be scared since there are physically painful consequences for making mistakes. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Since NS worked so well on the HL engine, I don't see why they wouldn't put it on the HL2 engine. HL2 engine supports so many new things that the HL engine could only dream of. They already said the feel of HL is within HL2, whether it be how you look around, or the way you move. So if NS was made for the HL2 engine, it would most likely feel like the game we all love and hold so dear to our hearts. I would definitly shell out $50 if NS was made on the HL2 engine.
I'm loving Doom3 as well but agree that Source is still the better engine for any forward looking NS projects (hint, hint) <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Hmmmm....I don't ever buy games (except HL, and HL2 when that comes out) so I would hope that NS gets ported over and remain a free HL2 mod. Sorry Flayra and Dev team, I won't spend $50 on NS2 in retail. I'm buying HL2 mostly because I know that not only will the single player experience blow me away, but I will get access to the single, most talented modding community in the world, which will provide me endless wonderful new gaming experiences.
Call of Duty has a really elegant solution to indicating damage.
In HL, let's say you get shot from the left. However, when you turn to the right, the damage indicator still shows up to the left, which is false, and it also shows up in the middle of the screen, which blocks your view.
In Call of Duty, if you turn to the right, the damage indicator accurately shifts as well to the rear, showing you where that shot came from. Also, the damage indicator is at the sides of the screen, which does not obstruct your view, and tints that side slightly, making the damage more visible to you.

NS on the DOOM3 engine would own. too bad the requirements for the engine are high (it taxes my new computer quite heavily). otherwise, it'd be great for NS. if someone makes a NS-like mod for DOOM3, i'm totally there. Source would obviously be better for vehicles and outdoor environments. either engine would be good, but it would depend on which direction flay would want to take NS in the future.
NS would look better on the Source engine, IMO... it would fit much better on that engine <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
