Battlefield 1942 Mods!

Favorites?
Well, I got BF1942 a couple of weeks ago, and immediately started looking around for mods.

Now, I downloaded Desert Combat (Which wasn't really all that fun, IMO.), Action Battlefield (Which noone plays.) These were two mods reccommended to me by other people. I've looked around, and thoroughly enjoyed Battlefiled Pirates(A pirate themed mod. Has zombie pirates, not to mention normal ones. The ships are huge, and fun to pilot, and the servers I've been to have realtively level-headed people.Did I mention there's a "Drunkard" class? You run around with the tankard of dewm, which deals mighty amounts of damage to those who oppose you.)

Another mod which was fun for a while was Interstate 82. The cars look cool, they've got hugeguns on top, you can snowboard, go boating, race, all sorts of good stuff. Interstate 82 Homepage

Right now, I'm playing Galactic Conquest.( Seriously right now. I just alt-tabbed out of the game window.) It's a starwars mod. On the rebel side, you get to use ships like the blockade runner, X wing, Y wing, and..... the Republic gunship/transport thingy from clonewars. Complete with 5 out of 8 spots on the vehicle being gun turrets of some sort. Death machine in the hands of a good pilot. Galactic Conquest
I'd get it from Gamer's Hell if you:
A) Aren't in the UK.
B)Hate Fileplanet.

Now, I wanted to know what BF1942 (Vanilla, no expansions or anything) mods you guys like.

With respect,
Docchimpy the Great.

Forgotten Hope is a great WWII mod has a lot of vehicles and is geared a little more towards realism.

Eve of Destruction is a good vietnam mod if you don't want to purchase BF:V

Wasteland 2042 is quite fun and resembles the Mad Max universe.

It's a shame Forgotten Hope takes 3 years to load.

Battlefield lost a lot of players to Red Orchestra (mod for 2k4) so their modding community was probably hurt by the player drain.

I like playing Battlefield on LANs mostly. I felt that they could do with a bit more realism to draw the players. However, it may be too late.

Galactic Conquest And BF1982:interstate just rock.
DCXtended, with bots, say goodbye to smacktards.

But i don't play it online, as my internet PC can't handle it, long loading times are bad.

The New release of interstate is good, a street race map, a snow map with snowboards and a bobsleigh run!

Galactic Conquest Extended is good if you don't play online. Like me. It has a snowy version of el Alamein aswell

I've tried most BF mods out there. Pirates looks cool but 50% of the people who want to play it can't due to a crash-to-desktop problem, Interstate 82 is lamed up by people like me who spawn camp and throw knives at the pit crews, galactic conquest was good but there was one map that was so rediculously large it literally took 30 minutes to walk from point A to point B, where you would be killed instantly to return to walking :\ (Hoth map was awesome however)

Are there any servers for Dead cities? I looked through the page, and found it to be quite interesting. I'd like to play a game sometime, but most of the cool-looking mods I DL (Wasteland 2042, Homefront, Siege) never have any servers to play on.

Though there are a lot of fun mods, what are some of the mods that have a fairly large userbase? by large I mean large enough to have at least one full server at all time. (with no bots)

Pirates, has (now) a couple of populated servers. I frequent the Butt Pirates booty server.(low ping for me)

Galactic Conquest has 3-4 WELL populated servers (40-50 people for like 5-6 hours at a time) I frequent the Nvidia server because of low ping, and good pilots.

    Galactic Comnquest
    Forgotten Hope
    Desert Combat (sux)

Those are the biggest mods IIRC

A rather cool (not so well played, but people still play it enough to fill a couple of servers) is http://www.silentheroes.se

Ah yes, silentheroes, a pretty good mod, considering it's one of the newer mods out. And it has Commanches!
The main reason DesertCombat is so popular, is because it's been around since the Dawn of BF1942. Like CounterStrike, it's the players that make it bad, not the game itself.

Damn I really should invest in some more RAM so I can start playing BF1942 and it's mods again, would still be playing on my ye olde mobo with it's 1.5 gig of SDRAM but it blew up so now all I got is super duper mobo an 256mb of super expensive DDR RAM nearly ?70 for like 512mb ffs

You realize the RAM really only helps with loading times?

FH is great but it's a beast to run, and I absolutely hate there AT weapons (but thats just me)

DC = the sux they could of made alot more optimizations on some of there maps and statics (Basrah's Night and most other city maps).

EOD is great pity that there is about 1 server full at any time (when there used to be many).

Pirates is still fun love the new classes and look but I miss the good ole tides of blood (just 2 galleons going at it).

Silent Hope is ok but it lacks a certain something which would make it great, and the fact that there is (I believe) only one map with any air(that I played anyways) and the ironsights need a little thinning out take up to much of the screen.

Galactic Conquest Haven't played it since my ram upgrade. The space maps are a blast as long as you don't suffer from the lag they can produce (can be a bish to play with 256 Ram) the maps are pretty fun (except for Tatoonine SP?)

DCX, dunno yet but the mod leader is the GOD of BF coding IMHO, doing what was thought inpossible to do (heat seeking missiles which didn't lag the game out) which are better than the BFV incarnations (so I have heard)/ haven't played yet

Interstate '42 fun mod with a capital F the deathraces are a blast but prone to smacktards that leave there cars in the way of the track but it's a blast none the less.

BG'42 I don't remember much about it but I remember is striking a pretty good balance between realism and fun (not as realistic as FH) don't remember much but will deffinately try out there next release.

SonGoku = FTW if you like Samuri's and sword figthing this is deffinately the minimod for you. there were 3 classes (don't remember there actual names )the Samurai with the Katana, A Samurai with a large pike/spear/thingie which is good for taking are large groups of Katana Samurai, and the Archer which of course has a Bow. I'm not sure if there are any servers running it atm or not but deffinately a must try.

Thats all the mods I can remember (and played) atm if I remember anymore I'll edit them in.

    **EDITED IN**

HomeFront (Halo mod) The now turned BFV (as with so many others unfortunately) was pretty fun to play my memory is hazy about this one too but I remember good times playing I'm not sure if the patch for it fixed an issue with a set of maps that caused lag (same map just different variations).

Siege: ah Fun times rushing a hill with arrows wizzing by your head to kill your unlucky comrades. another melee mod that never got much of teh spotlight unfortunately

Wasteland 2042 another Mad Max based mod was pretty fun to play but there was a large fan war between this mod and the similar mod Dead Cities.

Dead Cities. I'm afraid I don't remember much of this mod except that it had more vehicles than Wasteland 2042 and more varied maps aswell (I believe)

Empires: one of the most Innovative mods ever to grace BF42 (a RTS/FPS hybid) unfortunately the refactor2 engine was able to handle the Mod and caused frequent CTD, this mod never truely became popular because of this and Kenzo (I belive that was how you spelled his name) decided after the second release to switch to a engine more capable of handling (went to Farcry then jsut before the SDK was released it moved over to HL2, I am not sure if it went back)

Stunt Mod(s) I remember good times being propelled high high HIGH into the air in my Jeep after racing through a patch of Explosive Packs or pulling off insane moves with planes or any vehicle. These type of mods are for anyone who loves pulling over insane things that are not normally doable in a regular server.
