Don't hold your breath. This would be the fifth - yes I said FIFTH - time this laptop has gone out on me like this. It's also the second model of this laptop I've owned - they gave me a free replacement after the first one died the third time. NEVER buy a Fujitsu laptop - they are nothing but trouble.

Unlike this map which is pure leetness I might add.....

Hmmm, I'm wondering if the door in MS that doesn't open nor lead anywhere could be used as an actual path in a later build. Maybe a weld point? MS seems a bit easy to lock down for both sides, a good turret/oc farm could either keep the marines in or keep the aliens out. That 3rd path would be nice, although it would most likely suffer the same fate of the other exits out of MS. But heh these are just minor things I found when playing with my friend. Solid map overall though.

going to put this map next on my server. ill be back with the results. server is full at 26/26 players right now =)

----- : Report : ------

The outcome of the game turned out that aliens won. But then again we were using more teamwork =). Anyways I do think its balanced out, because marines were able to rambo out and set up a phasegate base.

This map seems to be a winn0r, gets my vote to be in the official map status.

----- : End Report : ------

I just played a 3v3 game with a few mates and I really love this map. The only downfall is that it is rather dark which makes it quite easy for skulks. However, that means the atmosphere is fantastic. Some of the areas with res in are very nicely laid out and the huge power core is great, so so so big! The hives are also very nice, I particularly like the cesspool hive and the one with the two power core thingys very nice. One of the vents have jagged edges and isn't just square which I love. The view from the Communications Array with the little satellite is a nice change to a wall. Just walking around the map was so much fun, it's very pretty. I can't think of any more things I like about this map, i'll have to sleep on it.

But overall I give this a BIG thumbs up!

Bijiy, the third door idea has been tried in the past, and I felt that it just wasn't needed, after seeing the aliens rape the MS with only the two entrances. Im not sure if you noticed, but the marines really have nowhere to hide from ranged attacks. You can pawn the MS with acid rocket spam and its over for marines. There is a direct line of sight from both entrances, which is an advantage for both teams.

Starchy, im a little concerned about the darkness level myself, but the majority of people I have talked to love the darkness In the beginning, I wanted the map to be fairly bright, but once it was playtested, I received lots of comments from VETS asking me to make the map darker. Which is kind of ironic, coming from a group of people that set their gamma and monitor brightness to the max.
This is a good question to ask everyone, is the map to dark? How do you like the lighting? Thanks for the positive comments Starchy!

What's the server ip?

OneEyed, I think I have come to the same conclusion as you, about the map being balanced. I have witnessed 3 rather large games so far, and I was totally blown away. The gameplay on all three, regardless of player count was quite fast paced and exciting. These to observation are exactly what I was aiming for, and it looks like all the hard work paid off (not to toot my own horn or anything). The majority of the battles were for control of res, which is exactly what Flayra was aiming for with 3.0. I was quite surprised to see that both teams had strats already. The marines would immediately break up into 2 groups and rush the nearest RT, drop phase gate, then move to the next closest one. Mind you, this was happening in multiple places at ones. The aliens strat was to counter the phase gate encampments around the map, while planting there own OC encampment after reclaiming the RT. I was really happy to see a large amount of turnarounds taking place, both teams were desperately fighting for RT control in order to get the upper hand. Yet once you thought it was over the tides would turn.

2 out of three games the marines won.

extract it to the ns folder maybe?

so I took a closer look on this map. it seemed to me like you used only the ns.wad. but when I saw those infested parts of the map, all I could say was "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAH! NATURAL SELECTION IS BACK!!!"

all I can say is, that I never saw a map like this using the "old"pattern, design top...
and like I said, the infested areas are WOW! now all it needs is a playable customserver...

Geez, that's a pretty nice map. Atmosphere everywhere, details here, details there, ambient sounds, varied lighting, damn, that map is sexy. And it is an ns map. wohoo. I'm really looking forward to play it.
How long did it take you to create it?

Took a little look around the map and i must admitt this one's a winner. The general atmosphere is felt right from the rr. I love the way you worked your pathways, you don't get that corridor/room/corridor feeling and everything looks so lively with the particle systems and all the working machinery. I havn't tested the weldables but they seem to be well though out too.

Great map, this really should go official, ns doesn't get any better .

yeh i like it alot, each corridors unique in its own way, thats far from easy to achieve.

one thing i dont like though is the parts of the map where u can see outside, it goes from being dark, contrasted and incredibly atmospheric to pale blue and kinda dull, u shuld make it dark outside at the very least. and wats with the weld point below the electricity thing in one of the hives, i culdnt figure out wat i welded?

When you stand in front of the welding spot, there is a vent in the upper left below the ceiling. That one is closed when welded.

Could be using func_illusionaries set to block light, and then automatically killtarget them on load, Jean.

Im currently working on a new environment sky, so you should see a brand new ES in the next build. Plus im having a model made for that outside area (a large array dish).

I helped Moose with the layout from it's original concept. He was a talented mapper as he know how to make it look sexy, but he didn't have as much actual gameplay experience...

So he agreed to team up and make this shizz happen, he would make a build, and I would go through it and help him find bad spots and tough spots. Over time he made a totally awesome map.

As much as I would like to take *some* credit for this map, I can't, I really have to hand it to moose for agreeing to work with me!

*claps*

And of course guys, this map is gonna be PRETTY DAMN balanced, I would allow anything else to be released...
