Dont forget the item "Dazers" if my memory serves correct thats how its spelled. Same effect as Hades just no damage it delt. Ugh all this talking about the movie/game makes me want to play the game forever. The movie is taunting enough as it is. Did I mention the Godlike man Nobuo Uematsu is still kicking and doing the music for the FF movie. It will r0x0r even more now that hes doing the music. hehe, i have FF7 on my computer and im going to have the game in CD next to my grave when im dead ^_^ wow, is he back or something? didnt he left Squaresoft because he didnt want to cooperate with Enix?
Killing Ruby gets you the Desert Rose, which in turn gets you a golden chocobo. Emerald Weapon will get you the earth harp, which nets you master materia from the guy. Utimate weapon gets you access to the forbidden forest (fly around, crash into him, repeat until he falls from the sky). It's near Cosmo Canyon on top of a cliff. You get the apocalypse sword here (3x materia growth) and the Typhoon/chupon summon. If you haven't already fought diamond weapon, make sure to steal from him to get a decent weapon for Yuffie, if you ever use her.
As for Ultima, if the train crashes, you need to buy it from that kid who would otherwise give it to you. I don't remember how much it cost because I never had the train crash.

Bit obvious, but visit all the materia shrines. You can get HP<->MP (switches HP/MP values, so 999HP/9999MP with maxed HP/MP), Mime (copy last action, so in effect, inifinite summons/what-have-you), and Quad Magic (4x casting of attached materia). You can only get to them by breeding chocobos, so you may as well wait for the gold one to hunt them all.
Try to find cactuar island and morph the buggers to get tetra elemental accessories. They absorb fire/ice/lit damage, if I remember right.

People you don't need that copy thing that cost no mp or that thing that switches health and mp or 1 mp cost when you can easily duplicate mega elixers like I said before in my first post on the 2nd page.
Can anyone else not make out a single thought that Petco is trying to convey?

There's a man in Kalm who wants 3 certain items : The Desert Rose, a certain book and some obscure item you get from Emerald weapon.
If you get the book (gotten by morphing a Ghost Ship) and give it to him, then you will get the Underwater materia which lets <b>all</b> your characters stay underwater in battle for an infinite amount of time (strangely, there's only one)
Pfff, nobody mentioned how to reduce damage done by Emerald though.....when he uses his uber-painful attack of doom (called Airetam) that does damage based on how many materia orbs you have equipped XD
Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't equip any....you'll just get slaughtered XD
BTW, you can get the Ultima materia, regardess of wether the train crashed or not. I know I did because I sucked at stopping the train (I was 8 when I was playing at the time....)
On a final note, having 2 KOtR materias rocks. One linked with Absorb MP and the other linked with Quadra magic. Doesn't fail to work but uses up 4 linked slots <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Don't look at me, I haven't played through the game in 4 or 5 years. I think most of the bigger secrets have been covered already.
Materia worth having other than KotR: Mime (copy anything just performed, indefinately) Phoenix (Phoenix + Final Attack = never die; if they're mastered) E-Skill (with Big Guard, Beta and White Wind - maybe Pandora's Box too...Big Guard is really the only necessary one- I just like the others <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) Ultima and Meteor (not really necessary, but they're my favorite magic materias in the game. Bahamut ZERO (just for the heck of having another Bahamut)
All the generic assist materias, from All to quadra magic, they all have some uses).
All you really need is KotR though, it basically kills anything in one cast (short of the Weapons and the final bosses). I like to throw some HP Plus materias on at the final part, just in case Sephiroth gets a Super Nova or two off.
Of course, it's always fun to try and beat it without KotR...
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Unlimited items: This trick requires the W-Item materia. The materia is obtained after your party parachutes back into Midgar in Disc 2. After entering the subway tunnels in Sector 8, your party may walk away from the screen and encounter the Turks, or walk towards the screen to reach another subway section. Select the second choi ce and follow the subway tunnel until it ends at a dead end with the W-Item materia. Information in this section was contributed by Aaron Bluhm and TomPatCat.
Equip the materia on the character with the item to be duplicated. When a battle begins, select the W-Item entry on the battle menu, select the item to be duplicated, then select any other item. Cancel that item, then choose another item, then cancel it as well. Every time you cancel the second item, the one that was initially chosen will increase by one.. Note: This will only duplicate item selectable in battle and can not be used to duplicate the various sources, materia, weapons, or armor. However, you must already own two or more of a battle selectable item. Information in this section was contributed by WarmasterX.
Use the following trick to duplicate an item that you only have one of, and it can be a battle usable item. You must have the W-Item materia and have it equipped to any character. Get into a battle. Select the W-Item command and then select any item you want to be duplicated which you have one in value of (for example, an Elixir). Then, select the character to use it on. You now have a second choice of an item to use. Instead of selecting the same item like in the original trick, select a different item (for example, a Remedy). Then, instead of selecting the character to use it on, back out once to the item selection screen. You will then notice you have one more of the Elixir (or the first item you selected) instead of the empty slot after you selected the item you only had one of. Select the remedy again and back out and you will have another of the Elixir (or the first item selected). Keep repeating this to get as many of any item as needed. If you mean to try to kill sephiroth without KOTR - Septhiroth is very easy with KOTR anyways, i hate when someone do KOTR at the last boss because, its not fun if it is too easy.
My advice: When you're in the crater (endgame part), look for a creature with a star above his head (Master Tonberry) He got an instakillattack, but if you morph him you get a ribbon which protects you from all negative character effects.
And if you're weak at the start, you might want the e-skill "Flametrower" in the materia caves behind the Midgar Zolom, ot just "Matra" from the "Tuned ....." (Dunno exact name, some machine thingy) right next to midgar. At the start these helped me to beat... everything <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
- Master magic materia (You have to master ALL of your magic materia) - Master command matera (Like above, but master all command materias, including enemy skill) - Mime (Hey ma, look! KOtR that costs no MP!) - Double-cut (Because you essentially cause double/quadruple the pain) - W-item materia (for the oh-so popular item dupe trick) - Added effect (Combine it with Time materia and master them both, and you might 'Stop' them XD ) Sadly there are no 1MP accesory thingamajigs because well....I gues they were too lazy to put it in.
As for Holy....well, technically, it's storyline materia, you'll have to see for yourself.
On a side-note, enemy skills worth geting : - Big guard (Barrier, MBarrier and Haste, why not?) - White wind (nuff said, classic FF material) - Matra Magic (I believe it halves an opponents health or something....) - Trine (toned down Delta Attack, and lightning based. Besides, it looks cool) - Shadow Flare (Because of the cool value, and you need it to master E. Skills anyway) - Pandora's Box (nuff said)
And some other's which I can't remember too well....I stopped on the 2nd disc again a few months ago....might give it a go again though XD
I think about trying to beat it with Cloud only using his Buster Sword... I hope I can get it to do 9999 dmg as well <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
BTW if you want a "Holy" sword, put Alexander and the one materia that adds the materia's effect to the weapon/armor. This is really effective in the crater where many enemies have holy as their weak spot.
BTW2 get Kujata in the forest you acces through bone village. I think it deals fire/ice/lighting dmg if you add it with the above mentioned materia in your gun, but I'm unsure (been too long...)

And yeah, doing that gives your weapon the Holy attribute. Heck, only the Alexander materia is the materia with Holy Attribute, and it isn't even that powerful.
I beat FFVII with Cloud, Yuffie, and Barret. They were all around level 75 or so. Everyone had their ultimate weapon. Cloud had 9999 HP, and I gave him 2x Slash and linked it with HP absorb, so he hit for 9999 and healed for 1998 twice every single turn, which was pretty neat. Yuffie I loaded with Materia, I think I gave her Ultima, Odin, and a bunch of other nifty summons and spells. She also had 9999 HP, and I gave her a 2x slash linked with HP Absorb, but it didn't hit for 9999 damage each time. Barret, I gave him all of the healing and defensive materia. He also had 9999 HP, and 999 MP. The only reason he was really there was because the game forces a three-man team, and since Aeris died, there was no one I really liked. He also was the only one with his ultimate Limit Break, so there ya go.
One time I played through it, I beat the final Jenova with Lucky 7s. Hehehehehe...

Doesn't fail to work but uses up 4 linked slots <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't look at me, I haven't played through the game in 4 or 5 years. In fact, heh, I played it about 2 years after it came out or so - because the cover art looked retarded, so I had no idea what it was about (the back summary doesn't help = "oooh, evil corporations - yay!"). It was back before the days of Geckos surfing the internet too <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> .
I think most of the bigger secrets have been covered already.
Materia worth having other than KotR:
Mime (copy anything just performed, indefinately)
Phoenix (Phoenix + Final Attack = never die; if they're mastered)
E-Skill (with Big Guard, Beta and White Wind - maybe Pandora's Box too...Big Guard is really the only necessary one- I just like the others <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
Ultima and Meteor (not really necessary, but they're my favorite magic materias in the game.
This trick requires the W-Item materia.

Yeah read this to see how to duplicate items.
Use it on mega-Elixirs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> . If you don't have that W-Item materia and is on disc 3 or something then I don't know how else you can get it.
I love Septhiroth's Super Nova but it isnt strong enough.

If you mean to try to kill sephiroth without KOTR - Septhiroth is very easy with KOTR anyways, i hate when someone do KOTR at the last boss because, its not fun if it is too easy.
When you're in the crater (endgame part), look for a creature with a star above his head (Master Tonberry) He got an instakillattack, but if you morph him you get a ribbon which protects you from all negative character effects.
And if you're weak at the start, you might want the e-skill "Flametrower" in the materia caves behind the Midgar Zolom, ot just "Matra" from the "Tuned ....." (Dunno exact name, some machine thingy) right next to midgar. At the start these helped me to beat... everything <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
- Master magic materia (You have to master ALL of your magic materia)
- Master command matera (Like above, but master all command materias, including enemy skill)
- Mime (Hey ma, look! KOtR that costs no MP!)
- Double-cut (Because you essentially cause double/quadruple the pain)
- W-item materia (for the oh-so popular item dupe trick)
- Added effect (Combine it with Time materia and master them both, and you might 'Stop' them XD )
Sadly there are no 1MP accesory thingamajigs because well....I gues they were too lazy to put it in.
As for Holy....well, technically, it's storyline materia, you'll have to see for yourself.
On a side-note, enemy skills worth geting :
- Big guard (Barrier, MBarrier and Haste, why not?)
- White wind (nuff said, classic FF material)
- Matra Magic (I believe it halves an opponents health or something....)
- Trine (toned down Delta Attack, and lightning based. Besides, it looks cool)
- Shadow Flare (Because of the cool value, and you need it to master E. Skills anyway)
- Pandora's Box (nuff said)
And some other's which I can't remember too well....I stopped on the 2nd disc again a few months ago....might give it a go again though XD
He does 9999 dmg if you have 255 in strength.
To get 255 to strength you have to morph some monsters in the sunken airship.
It is little hard to only get strenght speres but take your time.

Don't you mean Power Sources?
And yeah, doing that gives your weapon the Holy attribute. Heck, only the Alexander materia is the materia with Holy Attribute, and it isn't even that powerful.

Well, at least there's Added Effect- Destruct where you can kill enemies in one hit (if you're lucky)
Okej then.
I forgot the names of them.

I think there was a Luck+ Materia in the game, which comes in handy before your characters are strong enough to do 9999 damage without Deathblow :P
Oh, and I hate Tidus.
