Where the hell does it come from?

I decided to revisit FF7 this week. I met that damn 20 seconds safe again.
So I googled, and got the password... again.

But something bothered me. where the hell was the code mentioned in the game?
When I played it through the first time, I didn't think of it much when I looked up on gamefaqs. But it looks like if I played it spoiler-free, chances are, I won't even get Vincent.

Don't tell me someone tried all the 100 * 100 * 100 * 100 combinations.

You get it by going around the mansion and examining stuff, like the piano, one of the chests you open...and some pieces of paper. Been a while, but I remember that much at least.

I thought you were talking about that movie with Brendan Fraiser for a minute.

-_-

It's all over the mansion. Thankfully, the clues to where they are are in the room left of the main entrance. There's a piece of paper lying around there that gives you clues to the whereabouts of these numbers.

Getting the numbers in right without going one number past the required number was the hard part though.

Ones in the piano or somthing, ones in a tresure chest looking in it the second time (I think) one is in the middle of the floor in a smallish room... It's been way too long...

Hehe, that explains a lot.

I didn't notice that tape recorder in the mansion the first time I played.

Big woops

I personally found that opening the safe was the easy part. For the part of the game you have to fight him in (no barrier/mbarrier), lost number is one of the hardest bosses. He can in fact kill you in one hit.

He's uber easy. And yea you CAN have barrier/mbarrier, as well as the best healing spell in the game which nobody realizes is the best, white wind. ENEMY MATERIA. Get Big Guard from the slug thingies on the beaches, and white wind from the uh bat thingies over outside Juno. Big guard gives barrier, mbarrier, and haste. White wind heals for craploads of damage, low mana usage, and heals all ailments except death.

But yes, they are the win.

Read the note in the room with the piano. Look around beside the bed on the room in the other side of the 2nd floor for the 1st number. Check around the piano for the 2nd number. In the chest in the greenhouse in the upper-right side of the mansion, there is the 3rd number. Open the chest and check the lid for the number. If you scroll down to the bottom when you read the note on the safe, there is a fourth choice which is hidden. Read it and it will reveal the 4th and final number written in invisible ink

Although the HP and stat bonuses from it are nice, its best feature is that once he dies vincent is restored with full HP. It comes in handy if emerald weapon uses the ultra ray of DEWM on you.

The only characters I bothered using were yuffie (For her kickass final weapon, in the gelnika) and vincent...

How to win any boss battle any day easily (Only end of disc 2 and disk 3):
First you need to be a high level.
Get double item thing
Have a few megaelixir (2 or more)
Do the duping cheat: equip double item use thing on select mega elixir and then use it on someone then it will ask you what sec item you want to use (It won't use the item yet) then just press back, ok,back,ok repeat. I did it till I had 80 of them.
Now no need for cureing or anything like that you will have an infin number of them and they restore alll health and mana to all char.

Also note if you are bored and playing ff7 3-5 hours a day make sure you have the following char: Cloud,Barret,Cid, and anybody else with an limit break that hits more than 10 times. At the end where you level 90 + with all ultimate weapons you be hitting 9999 each hit. Double hit attack maxed for 4 hit attack works. You be killing final bosses by just hitting "Attack" 3-5 times and it's dead.

Size, color and underlineded the important thing.

Heh. When I played through FFX I got ultimate weapon for Cloud, err I mean Tidus, and Yuna. Tidus hit for around 99999 (yes, that many 9's) damage while Yuna could doublecast Holy for 99999 at 1 mana cost. Beat the end boss before he even hit me once. Kinda disappointing actually. heh.

a friend of mine had all the best weapons/overdrivs and all the other stuff.
and he killed the last boss like you but the end bosses are always easy to kill.
the problem is the special monsters in calms land.
they have like 1000000 hp and does plenty of damage.
and dont forget the dark aeons :]

well FFX is more difficult then FF7 :]
but i like the system of FFX, much bigger game and cool grafic.

Those are only in FFX jap version or something ? Hardest boss and after you beat them all you fight a really strong boss name starts with a p. Yeah FFX had a horrible last boss. Same with ff tactics. In FFX once you max out the stats thing you basicly do 99,999 damage (With weapons that have break damage limit). Easy way to level is get a thing on certain weapons and items triple overdrive, overdrive change to exp, triple exp. Also set overdrive on when you get hit you gain it. Fight special tonberry in calms lands battle thing where you pay gil to fight it. Make sure when you attack it it's counter thing does like 50-99k damage. Then it kills the guy you raise him again then repeat.

While we are on the subject...

What are some great hidden things that I should definately try to pick up, besides KOTR?
What else should I use the stupid gold chocobo for besides that?
What ultimate weapons for the characters are worth picking up?
Any way to get 1MP cost like in FFX?

Right now I use Cloud (main fighter/covers other characters, has 2x the health of the others), Tifa (magic caster + stealing + a bit of attacking if no need to cast anything), Red XIII (support magic +attacking)

Is there a way to get a gold chocobo w/o the stupid racing minigame? I hates it :X

In ff7 there is a way to make you hit and gain health or mp. I think you need the master command item(Yellow one). Then combine with (Blue one) A absorb health or mp thing. Also max out double hit item with that too. Also you might know that killing the 2 strong weapons and then talking to some old man in 2nd floor of some house in Nibelheim will get you a gold chocobo or/and all 3 master items. Gold chocobo won't be useful in chocobo races better off breeding them. Kill ruby weapon and talk to some old man in nibelheim 2nd floor in one of the houses (Ruby weapon drops desert rose and emerald weapon drops some item Both are used for giving the old man in nibelheim the items to get 3 master items which are all summons in one item, all magic in one item, and all yellow item in one item.)Also Defeat ruby weapon give item to old man then get gold chocobo and emerald weapon get 3 master items. Then you get a gold chocobo.
Also how to kill them both the cheap and easy way.
- Emerald weapon Get final attack item and combine with Phoenix both should be max stars. Getting final attack item look it up on google or something to much to type. This when your char is killed will summon Phoenix and everyone who is dead will be raised also maxing 5 stars will make it do it 5 times. Put it on everyone. Do the duping mega elixer cheat as I said first post in this topic. Make sure you have double attack item maxed so it will hit 4 times in one attack. Also go to any sites with cheats such as www.gamewinners.com or google and look up underwater item. And maybe look up "guide book" invetory item. With underwater item time limit on emerald weapon battle is gone.

- Ruby weapon you should have given the item you got from emerald weapon to old guy I said before. Now equip all 3 master items (Summoning, command, and magic). Use cloud. Go to any random battle before this battle kill your other 2 guys. Equip cloud with every single good thing but make sure you have enough space for final attack + Life2 (It cost less mp than Phoenix and phoenix might ending up raising your 2 other guys which mess up the plan). K go to the battle ***make sure you have enemy skills big guard it can be useful real useful good for both fights also put regen with that too ***. AFter those buffs just do shield on yourself (Useful) Spam knights of round on ruby weapon and when it does it's 2 other thing (Make sure shield and regen and big guard are on at all times) just kill it with limit breaks or knights of round. You kill it your done now talk to old man and now you have golden chocobo! (Not as good in races as the golden chocobo raised one) Also remeber about those mega elixers in the fight. Also double-summon item wouldn't hurt either.

- Also you wouldn't need magic cost 1 mp thing like ffx when you can easily create infin amount of mega elixers. With double item item.

Choco/Mog summon was very useful, because Lost Number was affected by Stop, and I just kept using everyone's summon spells, until the physical side died. Then I used Deathblow and stuff like that to finish it off.

Secrets I remember after not playing it for a long, long time:

Holding R1 and R2 at the same time during Chocobo races refreshes your Stamina slowly (so you can use your burst more, if you don't want to run them normally, since they can get annoying).

There's a secret ...area on the railroad tracks near Corel if you follow them; the track will turn (so you wont see Cloud) - you'll hear birds chirping and if you walk towards the mountain then, you'll get to enter a nest or some thing.

There's the sunken 'Galinka' (or something like that) in the ocean near Col de Soto (...or something like that), where you can mine the monsters inside for Luck Ups and stuff (things that raise your stats, just use the command that turns things into items - it's also a good place to just kill stuff if...for some reason you need XP - or if you want to fill your limit).

I believe there's a waterfall that you can only get to that has something For Vincent...it's near Cosmo Canyon (that continent anyway) - if you fly around in the Highwind you should see it, just break out the gold chocobo and check it out(I think you just need a Green one to climb mountains, not really a gold one, but hey, it's a Chocobo use).

One of my favorite E-skills can be obtained from the turtles (Adamantantines or something) near Wutai; just take control of the monsters with some command (forget which) and cast it on yourself.

In the Meteor, near the bottom garden-esque place, there are little Goomba wanna be things. They're impossible to hit and will ask for elixers. If you throw elixers at them, eventually the grow big and blow up, yielding 300AP or so. I'm not sure of a place to find Elixers effectively (maybe the battle arena), so I only did it once, but you might want the 300 AP.

It is possible to bypass the Chocobo Farm if you desire, just run along the mountain range edge to avoid the Zolom (or, if you're sure of yourself, just kill it and get Beta really early (another one of my favorite E-Skills).

Okay, not sure about this one; but the Ultima Magic is found when you stop the train from smashing into Corel, I think it's basically part of the story if you save the train, so maybe it's not worth mentioning .

If you have Neo Bahamut and Bahamut summons when you talk to the guy in Cosmo Canyon (and look at the summon Master Materia) you'll get the Bahamut ZERO materia (think that's well known too).

Defeating Ruby weapon gets you a materia or something that lets you stay and fight the Emerald weapon underwater for more than 30 minutes; defeating him you get 1 of each master materia (and a gold chocobo, I think).

The best place to find good Yellow Chocobos is in the ice cap area, (I think they're called 'Fine Yellow chocobo's, when you brink them to the farm). You feed them some special stuff and mate them and you'll work your way through Blue, Green, Black and Gold (Black is actually cooler, but Gold is necesarry for KotR ).

You can dig around in the excavation site near the Ancient City to find the key for the Midgar gate. Not all that useful, but maybe you want to go visit them again.

...thats off the top of my head anyway, I'm sure there's more secrets around that I'm forgetting.

Actually, that's really wrong.

There's a man in Kalm who wants 3 certain items : The Desert Rose, a certain book and some obscure item you get from Emerald weapon.

If you get the book (gotten by morphing a Ghost Ship) and give it to him, then you will get the Underwater materia which lets all your characters stay underwater in battle for an infinite amount of time (strangely, there's only one)

Pfff, nobody mentioned how to reduce damage done by Emerald though.....when he uses his uber-painful attack of doom (called Airetam) that does damage based on how many materia orbs you have equipped XD

Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't equip any....you'll just get slaughtered XD

BTW, you can get the Ultima materia, regardess of wether the train crashed or not. I know I did because I sucked at stopping the train (I was 8 when I was playing at the time....)

On a final note, having 2 KOtR materias rocks. One linked with Absorb MP and the other linked with Quadra magic. Doesn't fail to work but uses up 4 linked slots

Quadra Magic is only for magic not for summons.

Phoenix[Summon Materia] + Final Attack[Independent Materia] - KOTR[Summon Materia] + W-Summon[Command Materia] - Mime[Command Materia] + Hades[Summon Materia] - Enemy Skills(Big Guard) [Command Materia]

The ultimate commando!
You cant fail to kill ruby with this technic.
First, kill 2 of your party and let cloud enter the battle.
After that Ruby have his claws on the ground, cast phoenix down to each dead in your party and then cast Big Guard.
After that, cast Hades and then KOTR 1 time and use Mime after. And do so until he dies.
After 12-13 KOTR (depends of the dmg of the 13 knights) he will die.

[Edit]
Hades make Ruby to freeze.

[Edit 2]

But Life2 isnt for all your party? (dont remember) Summon Phoenix does effect all in your party.
