Just kidding, I just need to test out my new P226, and I figure I can get away with shooting someone trying to rip my digestive system out.
GameCube is not a console for gamers who want violent and/or mature games - it's a RELATIVELY kiddy system compared to the PC and Xbox.
Yes, I do have to say that the PS2 dvd player is the worst dvd player i've ever come across. It plays at the lowest quality i've seen and it buggers the sound up big time.
I don't wish to flame you TommyVercetti, but you really can't say that the Gamecube is a general kiddie system with plenty or gorey games. So in conclusion, you suck!

My friend's PS2 doesn't read DVD's anymore, and a lot of the times the sound/color will go out whilst playing game. And didn't Sony put Lead into the PS2? And isn't Lead the heaviest non-radioactive metal in the world?

I don't think anyone here was denying that there were some violent games on the GameCube. The general feeling about the GameCube is similar to the N64 - very kid-oriented.
But let's take Ness-Earthbound's advice and drop the game comments. If you feel the need to reply to my post, so be it. I'm dropping it on my end.
To make a comment about the original post, I personally would recommend that you try putting the PS2 horizontal instead of vertical for a while. There could just be something about the environment you're putting it in that makes it screw things up more often when it's vertical, and there's also a much higher chance of scratching a disk if the PS2 is vertical. Unless there's a specific reason (as in, it doesn't fit), I'd say keep it horizontal. It's a lot safer that way.
For those who are praising the XBox's prowess, keep in mind that it was more well known for mangling the crap out of disks, especially DVDs. Unfortunately, any links that had examples of the slaughtered DVDs are about 2 or 3 years old and I doubt are up at all. I guess no system is perfect (except for my Cube). Although I should note that my roommate's PS2 had never had a problem until he let me try to install his mod chip. Ugh.
I got my PS2 on day one [UK]... couple of years down the line and the drive was so knackered i got £40 for it on a trade in... (which was quite good since it didnt actually play games any more )
imho the PS2 is even worse then the NES for longevity...

I'd say that is yet to be seen, given that I still have two NES power decks, and both of them still work.

Just as my PS2 has never broken, my NES have never broken, there are truly enjoyable games on the GCN (even for adults), and the xbox might not be the cause of the doubled hernia rate on its release day.
The fact of the matter is, as the subject is presented, people draw inflections to tinge future posts. And you do come off as pretty fanboyish.

Almost every single NES I have ever used or seen used has overheated after about fifteen minutes of use. I always thought it was just poorly designed, but maybe I just have bad luck.
