And The Playstation 2.
For God's sake- this is the 3rd time. THE THIRD EFFING TIME. That I've had to send this PS2 in- why? No, not because of driver bugs- I could understand that. BUT NO. A simple little problem in the fact that the Playstation 2 has singlehandedly the worst system design I've ever seen, in 2 apparent ways: It SUCKS IN DIRT(instead of keeping it out and only doing cooling), and then it SPREADS the said dirt ONTO THE EFFING DISC IN THE FRICKIN TRAY. AND GUESS WHAT THAT DOES? It SCRATCHES the disc to all hell, RUINS the laser, and over time DEGRADES THE PRODUCT OF ITS QUALITY.
Now, I payed $250 for a console. I expected to only have to pay more on it if I broke it, or if it somehow did something stupid. But when Sony REFUSES to learn how to make a proper drive setup- thats just effing ****.
GG 2-year-old grade engineering.

Yeah, The PS2 is past its prime. Some people may argue with me, but thats how I feel
[edit] repaired the results of some strange mental name replacement problem I had ealier today

I was joking about the sweat shop thing -.-
I can understand what you mean. Lately my PS2 has been reading disks real slowly lately....
They should really think about the dirt-sucking problem when they design the damn PS3, or they'll drop down in the gaming market for sure.
But it could be one made in a sweatshop, like baconflaps said, my friend had his PS2 a year ago and it still works like it was fresh out the box. Talk about weird eh?
Saying that tho I've had my PS2 for about 3 years and never had a problem with it.
Ensuna?

WAHAHAHAHAHA
In fact, only real problem I've even heard of from a friend is that their CD-tray got stuck, which was a five minute fix with a can of WD-40, a screwdriver, and a pair of tweezers to pick out the hairs that'd gotten wrapped around the drive gears.
And personally, I think the PlayStation 2 is far greater than the GameCube. Nintendo is far too kiddish - yes, there are finally some more mature games on the GameCube, but it still has that feeling of "cartoon" about it (especially because of the graphics).
Do I dare even..ask?

ew thx for that
ive never had a problem with my Ps2 and i bought it the week it was released
Same here, but the only games that actually interest me for it these days are RE: Outbreak (and the eventual Outbreak 2) and the big-hitters, like Gran Turismo 4, that are few and far between.
It just isn't played for now.
When you send it in, they give it all the new parts, every time. But the SAME PROBLEM keeps happening- the dirt being sucked in(which doesn't have to happen- get a better filter on the side and tahdah, problem solved), and spread all over where the CD is read, to scratch it and the lazer.
I never had a problem with my Gamecube(up until I sold it).
Still to this day I've had not one problem EVER on my XBox.
Its always been the PS2. But thats gotten me wondering: They were only advertising 1 way to set the GC and XBox. But PS2 can be horizontal, or vertical. Mine is vertical. Which way is all of yours? For all I know, that could be the problem right there(which also means I can get the suckers for false advertisement- I've never once seen a ad of theirs where its horizontal).

Personally, I own a PS2 and a GCN. They're about equal, IMO, though the GameCube controller feels a lot more natural. Better layout, overall. And the image quality on the GCN is much higher than the PS2, especially with an HDTV cableset. Just went with SVideo for the PS2, given that it doesn't antialias in any of the current games, and there's no real point to HD-mipmapped explosions. :b
I do love my PS2, but most of my favorite games are on the 'cube. You know.. the ones that keep you playing, and coming back for just one more level. So what if the games have a little color? Better than staring at a black screen, listening to your character get killed and thinking about how cool it is.
And you have to admit, the PS2 is one of the best looking systems, maybe not always game wise, but the system itself is very slick looking.
Edit: Also I like PC the best as the only disadvantage it has is price. I'm getting a new one soon, though (I thought this summer, but now it's probably gonna be by Christmas).

Yeah, because Resident Evil looks so kiddish. I can't agree really, the PS2 has just as many games aimed at younger audiences as the Gamecube these days.

heh, I mostly game on my pc:)
But some ups and downs of PC's & Consoles
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Consoles
+ VERY simple to use, just buy it, plug it in, put the game medium
(cartridge/cd/whatever( in your console and you're good to go
+Nice controller for 2d arcade games (not all consoles)
+No virii/worms/malware and almost 0 bugs
-Its pretty expensive for something you can only play games on.
(and watch a dvd...and perhaps some other things.)
-Using a controller to play FPS'es, yuck.
-You cannot replace old hardware.
-for some consoles you need a TV.
-Low graphics if compared to what PC's can do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personal Computers (thats right, not laptops/palmtops)
+Can be used for a LOT of things
=Typewriting & printing
=Gaming
=Programming
=make a server for whatever purpose
=etc etc (its too much to say it all if I COULD do that)
+Not very expensive for what you can do with it.
+Very customizable (from OS themes to replacing hardware)
+mouse & keyboard!! = perfect for FPS games :b
+More powerfull hardware than consoles
-Horrible Virii/Worms/Trojans/Ad-Ware
-Bugs Bugs Bugs... (every OS has them...)
-PC's need to be very well configured
-Not as easy to use as consoles
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(If I forget anything, or said anything wrong, feel free to fla...errr correct it)

Well said.
Anyone saying the GC is a kiddy console should have their entire digestive system ripped out through their soon-to-be-empty eye sockets.
Metroid, Resident evil 4, Killer 7, New look Zelda... the list goes on
I still mostly use this PC, but i'll be getting a router and getting it set up on my upstairs machine.
Then i pull an upgrade: 2.8 P4, 9800Pro128MB and any mobo better than this one.
This machine:
1.8GHz P4 Intel
384MB Ram(not sure, but i think its RDRAM)
GF4 Ti4200 64MB
Dell 8200 mobo(which can burn in hell)
15"TFT
Other Machine:
2.0GHz P4 intel
1024MB RDRam(333/400MHz, im not sure)
GF FX5600XT
Dell 8200 Mobo
15" TFT
Had one problem once last year when it wouldn't read a DVD-R of a film (legal back up cos the original I got jumps) the problem was solved by putting it horizontal then back to vertical again once the film started. Never had to do that since.

You forgot that games on the PC can be patched. Console bugs you're stuck with (except maybe with Live).
That, and games on the PC can be modded.
