silverjunksilverjunk Join Date: 2004-06-22 Member: 29463Members

It only happens for this game too
MY mouse lags while playing NS, usually when im holding left click, or the fire button, and also when the commander starts building rapidly, like spamming turretes everywhere. It only happens for this game, and my mouse is optical, reads 3000 times per second, 5 buttom microsoft thing, so my mouse isn't crappy. My computer is good, so is my videocard. It only happens for this game. Any fixes?

Thanks

You sure its not the game freezing for a milisecound?, i get what seems like mouse lag but its the computer skipping a few frames when the commander drops items.

    Look at your fps anyway

    net_graph 3

If it is 60+ constant, then try using opengl mode, if you aren't already.

If you have a windows mouse or keyboard then set type32.exe and point32.exe to highpriority mode in the taskmanager.

I have the same problem in any HL mod, and I do have a Microsoft mouse, however neither of the processes you list are in my task list. =|

I just deal with it. =\

Check and make sure your desktop manager is off. I turned that thing off, and my mouse lag disappeared.

If you're playing Half-Life in Direct3D mode, switch to OpenGL mode. You'll get about double the performance, and this should help with any mouse lag you have.

Turn off mouse acceleration, and lower your graphics setting. Too much stress on a lower end comp causes that. Trust me, I know, I'm playing on a 6 year old dell.

I used to have this. There is a 26 page thread about it at the steam forums. I suggest skipping to the last few pages.

I tried various solutions from that thread, the one that worked for me was running dxdiag and turning hardware sound acceleration off completely.

    Some other solutions included:
Killing taskswitch.exe (part of XP powertoys)
Setting steam.exe to low priority in the task manager.

Check out that thread to see other solutions.

I have an MX500 and had the same problem, when lots was happening on my screen my mouse would lag, I managed to sort it out by alt-tabbing out of NS, going to task manager and setting hl.exe to low priority.

If vsync is on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. Turning vsynch on fixed my latest mouselag problem.

I posted to Tech forum how I got my mouse lag fixed, but I'll write it here too then
Try to change ur steam internet options. Change the internet connection speed to 256 or something. ( I have 2mb/512 and when I changed that internet speed from steam options to 256 then mouse lag was gone )

this is a very bizarre phenomenon. i've never noticed it in HL or mods but i have noticed it everytime i've tried to play Max Payne and that's single player so it can't have anything to do with ping etc.

still, 512 is not much. try to borrow some more memory from your friend or so and test to play agian.
    you should see some diffrents.
