That's actually why I like them. I'm not that particular towards unquestioning loyalty.

So? Yes, cats are only marginally smarter than the stuff we feed them with. Do you earnestly think a dog's different? If you want a 'deep' pet, get a pig.

True, there are however numerous accounts of <i>humans</i> rescuing, serving, and fetching stuff <i>for</i> cats. I'm not saying dogs are deep, complex animals. I'm saying cats aren't.

That humans are stupid? You would not find me risking my life for an animal. Sorry.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->That's actually why I like them. I couldn't live with that. If I feed an animal, I expect it to be grateful to me, not just lick the bowl and go out and catch a rat. I had a cat when I was younger, called smokey, and while I liked it, I didn't get the impression my feelings were returned. My brother and I would spend ages coaxing it onto our beds at night, only to have it jump off and go back downstairs.

I don't see cats as companions, more like parasites, leeching off the host and giving little in return, apart from the occasionaly purr to get you to feed it some more.

I can only watch one or two Fawlty Towers at a time, and never a marathon on BBC America. It's so friggin' manic and crazed that I get physically and emtionally weakened and have to lie down. Especially the episode with the Germans, or the episode with the hotel inspectors. Gah!

These pics people put up of their poochies are awesome. Fight the cat people! Up with pups! <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

MEGA-cute pictures there, Alius42. I'll show these to my wife tonight, just to see her get all mushy and wimpy. Fun!

I definitely find that, as someone who grew up with cats and finally his long-desired dogs as a grownup, I prefer my poochies. Mainly because of their great personalities, which make up all the good parts of human kids (curiousity, good humor, loyalty) and none of the bad (growing up to be teenagers).

And they help warm your feets at the breakfast table on chilly hardwoods! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    edit: Thanks Athena!

Very pretty, MonsE. Glad to see you're still with us in some capacity, as well!

Pups may not <i>ask</i> for SunnyD, but I'm sure they'd drink it if you gave them some!

If you got that dog from buddy dog I think your dog and mine are brothers. Me and my neighbor gots a sheperd lab mix from the same litter on buddy dog and both look just like that. Unfortuneatly my dog's (Miso) brother (Tigger) got hit by a car and died about a year ago. So sad, he was such a friendly dog. He came over to play with Miso but Miso was getting ready to go on a walk, Tigger decided to cross the street to go home and got hit by a damnable teenager ina red sports car going about 15 miles over the speed limit. Miso saw this and ran away, however we found him again. When Miso got home though he was in a bad way, he missed his brother, he was underfed and malnourished from being without a home, his paw pads were destroyed, and at first he peed bloodily. Interestingly, Miso got pretty far, (several towns away) and back over a relatively short time frame. He's lucky to be alive. I have pictures but nowhere to host them.

Although I am definitively a cat person, I must say, I need one of those. That thing makes some kittens look scary.
