You can have a "show of fancy cars", and you can "show off your fancy car".
In the first use, the word 'of' is a description and is pronounced 'ov'. In the second use, the word 'off' is part of a verb 'to show off' and is pronounced 'off'.
Some one tryed to correct me and i want to see if he's right.
The plurals on sigs and avatars could mean that you have collected all of them into one place and have organised a display, a "show of your sigs and avatars". However, he could be jealous and would be wanting you to stop boasting, to not "show off your sigs and avatars".
There is stil not enough to base a decision on. Need to know the context of the sentence.
If you are trying to flash your sig's and avatars around in a "look at my sexeh sig" stylee then its 'show off'
If you are displaying a collection of current and previous sigs and avatars in the same way people might put art in an art gallery then it is a 'show of'.
So... erm.... so... of?

Effect and affect are complicated. Affect happens to something. People get affected. An effect is the result of an action. Cause and effect.
