count me in <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> (and I still got won)
Wow! I didn't realize I would get this big of a response! Thanks for all of your replies. A little more information is probably in order...
We're still in the early very rough stages of the game. A lot of mods seem to stay in development for a long time whilst trying to make everything extra perfect. We're trying to make it perfect, of course, but are going with the theory that if it's fun enough, we can start releasing it early, get much needed feedback, and make it better as we go along.
While we are trying to attain some level of realism (As much as you can in a zombie mod, anyway...), which means no shoulder mounted rocket-launchers and the like, fun is our overall goal, and so things are tweaked more towards being playable than having the trigger-guard the exactly right size for every weapon.
We've got a lead coder (Rhone on these forums) who has been coding night and day to get us to where we are. We're just using the HLDM Barney model for the Humans and the HLDM Zombie model for the Zombies at the moment, as we're trying to focus on gameplay for now. Models can always be replaced, and aren't what make the mod fun. Because of this, any screenshots would probably be somewhat disappointing, although I could put a couple up of a map I've done for it.
We're trying to make sure everything is fun and playable, while continuing to add features and maintain the balance. We just can't balance very well with only 5 people playing in a game.
As for what we need, other than playtesters:
People with skills in: Modeling, Skinning, HUD Sprites, Mapping.
We've only really got one map we're working with right now, and it's geared around a smaller group (It's also my first ever map, so it's not the most polished thing ever... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
Basically, we're new to mod making, but long time HL players. Most of all, we want something fun to play. Looking flashy and cool is nice as well, but gameplay is what we're focusing on.
Eventually we'll be implementing other gameplay modes, like Escape, or Retrieval, but for right now it's just Survival.
We would probably playtest once or twice a week, depending on how often we get new builds ready. As I said before, we're trying to test new builds often, as getting feedback every week or so is better than once every 3 months. If you wait that long before getting feedback, then you've had 3 months to elaborate on something non-fun without knowing it.
Again, I appreciate all of your enthusiasm, and we'll start getting in touch with people for the testing. Thanks!
When it's Steam-ready give me a buzz, cause Zombies are my thing and I'd love to play-test <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Count me in man! I'd be glad to playtest. However, only on the steam version, as I no longer have WON HL.
You should take up Soylent's offer of making it steam compatible, that would probably boost your release schedule forward somewhat and save you some work.
Anyway, I really hope you recruit some people to work on the mod and get it running soon, it sounds like a great concept.

huh? That wasn't what I intended to say. What I meant was sure I'll beta test it if you have it on steam and it usually is very easy to make a MOD steam compatible, you can just grab any old MOD and dump it over to steam and probably not suffer any consequences except the "single player stuck on level transition bug" which only applies to single player. He should not have any problems getting it steam compatible, but if he does want any help I'll gladly try to help in any way I can.

Hmm do you actually need us to email you or is posting here good enough Oh and if you need mailing do you want people with steam only to mail you now or just wait and you'll post when its steam ready?

Hey, just as a suggestion:
Either put all your info in your first post (so that we don't have to sort through all these posts for new)
or, if you can, set up a forum/webbie with info <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
you have your enitre (very willing) beta team right here <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Mmmmm.. Zombies. Count me in.. I still have won HL.. and could probably run a server.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Thank you all for your overwhelming response to Twilight's inquiry. I was very excited to see what you all had to say after he emailed me at work and told me the good news. Just wanted to hop on real quick and introduce myself. Like Twilight said, we're long time HL players. I'm a really big fan of mods like NS, TFC, Firearms etc. Twilight and I have been playing mods for a long time, and now we've finally decided to try and give something back to the Half-life community.
Twilight has kind of given you the basic run down of what this mod is about. The team and I are going to make sure that, given your enthusiasm already, you won't be dissapointed with our mod. We've been doing or own playtests with the mod in its current state, and let me tell you, its a ball!
Based on the responses, it sounds like I need to focus on getting this thing into Steam. I've read up on it and it doesn't sound too complicated. Any suggestions you could offer as far as gameplay, features, abilities, etc would be appreciated. I liked the one about killing three humans would turn you back into a human and I'll pitch it to the team. Anyways, time to get back to work. : P

Jumping on the bandwagon. I want to splatter zombies too.
Also, I've got some mapping experience, but nothing amazing. But if you're desperate for mappers, I might be able to offer some help in whatever spare time I can find.

@ Soylent: Sorry I completely misinterepreted what you said. My apologies.
@ Twilight & Rhone: You should scout some of the people in the Customization and Artwork forums and see if anyone of them could help out or even join your team. You never know. I mean, you guys start one thread here and you've already got like 25 some odd willing playtesters. It's worth the gamble.
(Note: By scout I think PMing is probably the best way, blatant advertising threads of any sort are generally frowned upon. And no I am not just saying this because talesin is watching this thread.)

Even though I've posted in it and am waiting to hear back, Cold? ^_^
Actually found an old WON install that boots up, hiding on one of my obscure back-up drives. I'd be tempted to offer modelling help, but I'm pretty lousy at low-poly.. more head for medium, high, or movie-grade. :b Might give it a shot anyway, once finals are over and done with.
Speaking of which, I'm going to be late if I don't get moving!
I could do some mapping <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
My apologies for blatant advertising, if indeed this post was in bad taste. I had no intention of aggravating anyone.
As for putting all of my info in one chunk, I expected it to take awhile to get responses, so I just gave a quick run down and figured I'd start getting a couple of people emailing me in a few days. There was a quick enough response that I felt more info was warranted.
No, we don't have a website or a server as of yet, although we could use both. I will try to take a few screenshots tonight and put them up.
As for playing soon, we will try to have a playtest for all of you as soon as possible. To be honest, your overwhelming enthusiasm caught us off-guard, and so we're trying to get everything ready. Again, many thanks for everything you've said and volunteered. Submissions of any kind are welcome, and we'll try to throw up some temporary forums for people to talk about things in. I have a full-time job and a family, so I don't always have as much free time as I'd like, but we should have something up soon. I'll keep you updated in this thread, if that's all right with everyone.
And yes, we'll get Steam up and running ASAP, so bear with us. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
