Definately not, with structures not meaning so much it only means that teamwork can shine through more and would make for a more interesting game, where you actually have to hold an area with structures and players.

Oh, another good topic, and I believe the suggested solutions came out at "Marine Bling."

I agree. Your idea of a balanced game of NS also seems to be the same as mine.

Just give the alien res tower an ability to attack, simply the same rate of fire and damage as that of a marine res tower. The only problem is we will have to make an add-on button for the aliens so they can "add" this ability to the res tower for 30 res, of course.

Lol and where are you expecting this res to magically appear from? Aliens need to go to bloody Aldi for their DCs as it is.

Simple: earn it, like the marines do. You earn the res for making a tower upgrade just as marines. I see that as fair.

Recoup, if aliens get a way to upgrade their res towers, so to speak, then they it'll have to cost less than 30 perf upgrade. Marines can use their res more efficiently than the Kharaa can, because of the resource pool. An alien wanting to go gorge, build a node, AND electrify it (so to speak) will have to spend a gradn total of 55 res. That's almost a Fade! It's not practical!

MY suggestion: In order to have the ability to upgrade a res tower, aliens must build at least one Offense chamber somewhere first (marines must build a TF first, so this is fair), and upgrading a res tower costs 15 resources. The upgrade would do this: Shoot at up to 2 marines at the same time with an OC-spike. The RT targets the nearest marines first, and if only one marine is present, then that marin would NOT take double the damage (it works pretty much like Electricity). The range is about the same as OC range. This upgrade serves to prevent vanilla marines from just wandering around knifing nodes. They'd either have to find a position far away in a straight line (not always possible) to shoot it with LMG and pistol, or ask for a shotgun and medsupport to take out the RT.

That IS a fade.. plus 2 upgrades.

right. Sorry I'm not thinking clearly today.

No need to give res chambers a boost, just make OC's worth building or cheap enough that you can put more then 1 down.

I say we give alien rts devour.

Think about it. They look like giant mouths with stomochs. The idea would be they rear up from the node and swallow a marine, digesting him for resources. I admit the idea sounds weird and humerous, but if you want to give alien rts an attack it seems logical to me.

OC's are already in trouble because they are so big you can kill them by shooting their hitbox without being visible to their centerpoint. Considering the size of the RT's, it would be laughably easy to stay around a corner and shoot at their edges.

Just lower the cost of OC's to 7 instead.

Do you realize how long it would take, and how many clips must be wasted to do that? If you shoot around a corner like that, only half your bullets will hit because the wall will block part of the spread. That means you'll need to waste about 2-marines worth of LMG clips, plus the time it takes, just to take down that node. This gives plenty of time for skulks ot appear and save the node. Occupying a few marines for extended periods of time is always good.

I think alien RTs should parasite marines on contact, and if damaged, release a spore (maybe that could be the upgrade). The spore would last MUCH longer than a lerks, so even if the marines destroy it, the spore will still hurt the marines when they try to build their tower.

I do like this idea though. This would need an actual animation, mabye something like a venus fly trap. If the RT is digesting a Marine, have his boots stick out of the "mouth"

The upgrade better be damned expensive then. Devour is an ability of a 75 res creature. Having a structure that auto-devours any marine that come near it is ridiculous unless made very, very expensive.

Why? LMGing a node down is extremely easy. It'd be like a 5 res upgrade - its not gonna kill more than one unsuspecting marine, or if theres a graphical representation, 0.
