btw u ever try that on me ull loose cos i cheak everything before i run unknowingly into a room...
btw, today i played as a assasin fade (regen, silence, cloaking) and it worked wonders!!! i killed at least 30 marines in 3 different rooms in 1 go... i got my res bak very quickly <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> btw, dont do this in an all too obvious situation :\
Marine01: Gee, I wonder if there's a skulk waiting for me outside Topographical. The other 214 times I played this map there usually was a skulk.
Marine02: Well I dunno mate, I didnt hear any alien though.
*Marine01 walks up to the doorway, takes a peek, sees a skulk, jumps back, and shoots the skulk along with Marine02 as the skulk panicks and comes for the marines*
Examples of this are:
Topographical/c12/West Skylights on ns_veil Chemical Transport/Cargo on ns_tanith Mess Hall on ns_nancy Left area of dbl res on ns_caged Dbl res on ns_hera Station access/powersubjunction on ns_eclipse Mineral Processing on ns_metal Generator on ns_nothing Dbl res on ns_mineshaft Dbl res/Laser Drilling on ns_origin Main Aft on ns_bast
And Agora/Ayumi have none of these pre-set 80% chance-of-a-skulk-waiting-in-the-first-minute as far as I know.
Basically, those predictable ambush spots usually contain chokepoints that marines want, bad. Most skulks camp inside those chokepoints rather than on its route, which gives poor result most of the time.
im so sorry i forgot to mention that MOTHER! lol try it on 2 different marines in close time within eachother, + if nobody comes after u killed a marine, run to another room...
on some custom maps u get lone rambo marines cheak the top ceiling, vent, then dies... how? well... i think ill make a little diagram for ya <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
red = vent blue = marines path yellow = ur path as a skulk black = are u that dumb?
remember to always take different rooms and different postions... heck if u keep in the same room in the same spot ur gona die on the 2nd marine to enter if they tlak to eachother <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
silence helps no end, and remember if u hide in a small corner, DONT FACE TOWARDS WHERE THE MARINE WILL COME! like someone said eariler the skulk model faces the way u look, so if the marine can c ur head then all it takes to get rid of u safely is a pistol whipping, so look down along the wall and just listen for him... + barely anyone looks there cos the area is so small he would be more concerned with the bigger spaces and ceiling...
Chances of ambushing rines gets statistically smaller as the number of marines increases. In these situations, you need to be a fade or higher, and ideally very very good.
If you're mid game, a good way to rape a whole batch of rines is to get an Onos with a brain to spam stomp while you rip the crap out of the rines. You'll all get a stack of res, and that leaves the team in a better position. These stomp-ambushes can be performed anywhere, but ideally corridors. If there's only one skulk, consider xeno if you're at third hive, as if performed correctly you've a good chance of killing all the marines concerned.
Other ambushes are of course luring rines into OC nests. A clever varient is making a few OCs and then simply lurk at the only spot where the marine can hide but still shoot the OCs. They'll be so focused on nubbing the OCs that you can run right up to their backside and snarf them.
