    Scripts do not give you skill. They (can) give you powerful tools that a skilled player may use to better his or her game. In the past, I would have argued that scripts gave a small, even trivial advantage, but having seen the config file(s) of a certain high-profile CAL player that will remain unnamed, I'm afraid that scripts can be extremely potent. The best advice I can give to you is to crack out google and research the scripting engine if you want to hold your own in CAL.

    Oh, and I'm not talking about bunnyhop scripts. This is more "next level" kind of stuff, the kind that both scared and greatly intrigued me when I set eyes on it - the kind I for so long refused the think existed. I'm considering releasing some of it in a highly edited and explained form, but not until after I consult a few dozen other people.

    Edit: It should still be said that 90% of all scripting is totally benign. Personally, I think that just goes to show how much you can do with it.

    <!--QuoteBegin-Cole+May 31 2004, 01:51 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Cole @ May 31 2004, 01:51 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> I think I already owned the bhopping argument a long time ago.

    Bunny hopping as a <b>skill</b> consists of two things. One, timing your jumps. Keeping your jumps correctly timed are the key to <b>maintaining</b> any speed that you may have built up. Two, moving your mouse. Moving your mouse in the proper fashion is what actually increases your speed.

    .5 + .5 = 1.

    Jump Timing + Mouse Movement = Skill.

    Script + Mouse Movement = .5skill

    So BigD, there are really no scripts that increase your skill..just basically removes the need for skill in a few departments. Most of the time it is quickly labeled a convenience. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    So a +3jump script makes you a lamer yet a mousewheel set to scroll 3 times when moved bound to +jump is skill? Sorry, but that's the jist of your post there. That spamming jump 3 times is lame yet a mousewheel, which is basically infinante, is not.

    I'd mark either as a preference. If someone wants to duplicate a mousewheel on their keyboard, by all means let them. Not everyone want's to use a mousewheel for jumping, as one useing their left or right hand for jumping is also preference.

    I can bhop without any sort of script. I can bhop far more consistantly useing either the mousewheel or +3jumps. Preference led me to use +3jumps, as I like useing my mousewheel for other things. Not all of us have mousebuttons 1-9 or whatever.

    I've never used a bunnyhop script, so I don't know how well those work... The only leap bite script I've ever used was one that gave me infinite leap, and I only use that on 'fun' servers, and the only reason I ever made it to begin with was so I could make a post to help the devs fix it... (which they haven't).

    I actually run into the bug just doing the normal leap lastinv, and bite when i get close enough. It's more pronounced when I have focus, but sometimes it thinks I bite before I actually do due to the nature of lastinv and stuffs. very bad...

    Letsee... So yes, I can leap bite with more skill without a script... I can shoot pistols with close to max rof.... but the important part is I can actually aim it without a script or using mouse wheel. (I've tried mousewheel at some point, but it threw off my aim)

    The only customization I've done to actually help my gaming was to replace all the crosshairs with pistol crosshairs. (since pistol is what I had the best accuracy with, I figured that might help.)
    My other customizations used to just be a different pistol and lmg model... and WH4k marine models. (I lost the gun models when I reinstalled)

    --

    So, yes... Scripts don't really help all that much. I can do what I can with script easier and with more skill without.... Except for exploiting. lol.

    I'm actually accused of using scripts quite often, it's kind of stupid.
