Time To Get A New Mouse
<div class="IPBDescription">not the rodent 'mouse'</div> Well, the optical mouse I've been using for three years has finally kicked the bucket, and a successor must be chosen to rule the desktop, alongside the keyboard.
The mouse I was previously using was a Logitech Optical Mouse, and I'm currently considering getting one from the MX series to replace it. I'd like to hear some opinions from current users, so... any suggestions?

Meh, if I didn't already have 3 mice I would buy it for sure...
Try to get a good look at both the red and blue versions in person. Pictures don't do it justice because they don't show the way it reflects. Back when I bought mine only the red was being made, and even now blue is much harder to find [read: no computer store within a drive-able radius of my house has it in stock]
I must admit the blue one is really pretty I may have to go and pick it up and it will match my computer case/keyboard/monitor :-)

Just as well, you almost earnt yourself a beating there. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The short answer: it's not worth a $50 upgrade for current MX500 owners, but it is worth the $10 difference between the models for gamers/avid computer users who are deciding between a new 500 or 510.
The long answer about feature differences (all taken from their official website):
Image precessing:
MX510: 5.8 megapixels per second
MX500: 4.7 megapixels per second
Acceleration tolerance:
MX510: 15G's
MX500: 10G's
Color:
MX510: reflective finish in red or blue, unique to each mouse
MX500: whatever solid color you find it in, probably grey.
Warranty:
MX510: 3 years
MX500: 5 years
Their resolution is equal (800dpi) and their speed is equal (40 inches/second). Out of the above listed features, the MX500's only edge is the warranty, which makes me think that Logitech either has a typo on their website, or has a low opinion about frustrated gamers using them as weaponry against teamkillers at LAN parties.
and don't suggest the MX500/510 to me, i can't stand cords
cordless keyboard+mouse for the win(and they were FREE)
and they were actually decent

You've got a good point there, but what games take advantage of it besides Tribes2 and Black & White?
But with the Immersion Touchware Gaming program ($40), you can customize movement for any game.
