Actually its not my NES, its my roomates. I gave it and like 10 games to him as a gift for Christmas. Mainly cause I knew we were getting an apartment. ;)
The NES works good as brand new though because I replaced the 72-pin adapter in it. Huzzah! I highly recommend you do so if you own a NES, its unbelievable the difference one little $7 part makes.
The old NES were made to LAST! I have one i bought from a used game store place here and it works. Our first one worked for like 8 years, and the one my mom bought for herself would still work if it didn't get rained on...

However, as I understand it, there is no guaranty that the same problem won't happen again. Try to understand, $7 is a lot for me, most of the computer equipment in my house came from dumpsters (would you have guessed someone would throw away a perfectly good 700mhz PIII laptop?) and I'm a DIY kinda guy. At one point I did try (for the better part of a day) to bend all the connectors back into a working position, but to no avail. Oh well, its garage sale season again, so I guess I should don a cape (NES powerpad) and a few gauntlets (NES power gloves) and raid the local yard merchants. I'll leave the gun at home, lest there be a repeat of last year's incident with local authorities...

Forgot the Master System in that list of needed consoles. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And for those complaining about Ninja Gaiden... you never played Shinobi for the SMS, did you? :b Damn thing was near-literally impossible to beat. Mostly due to the wall of statues before Mandarin... you were lucky if you got down to two rows before they pushed you into the electrified wall.
Bah. Should dig out my old NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, and all the rest (didn't manage to snag a Dreamcast, as I've been pretty broke for a while... even with Crazy Taxi and ChuChu Rocket making it worth the $50 price tag).. not sure I'll ever shell out for a cheap, low-end, mass-manufactured computer though. Er.. x-box. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I just managed to purchase a Dreamcast off a friend today: 17 games, VMU... £30. Pretty happy with myself <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I will sell you a working Atari 2600 for $2000 and voice on IRC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Of course, the games for it will cost extra, as well as the controllers <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Actually, I wouldn't sell it for anything, its my childhood!
That's what a SNES looks like? I could swear it was completely different. That ones doesn't even look like it has a slot to put the games in, according to my memory... Oh and if you like Megaman X, get X3, but NOT X2 unless you really want the story. X2 is the worst of them all. X3 is the best.

Here's a pic of the classic version (the one I have, the one that doesn't look stupid) <img src='http://outerspace.terra.com.br/retrospace/materias/consoles/imagens/parte26/snes.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Here's a pic of the stupid 2nd version: <img src='http://www.cnn.com/interactive/computing/0010/playstation.timeline/timelineimages/snes.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
And just in case you're curious, here's the Japanese version, the Super Famicom: <img src='http://archive.gamespy.com/articles/july03/famicom/sidebars/01_44-sfc.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
If you're Europeon then the Super Famicom probably looks most familiar to you as the Europeon SNES was based off the Super Famicom's design.
